so wake me up when it's all over

so wake me up when it's all over

so wake me up when it's all over by ssaarah

"SEPTEMBER 8TH-10TH Work, as usual. It has been announced that Apple will announce its' employee of the month later this week - this could include anyone, as long as they've been actively supporting their division and working vibrantly on any project."

I was making my way through the hustle and bustle of the office, everyone had a project to work on, everyone was trying to be noticed. It seemed like it was because of the award being given out but that was just a way to make people step up their game…not that anyone needed it. Apple was a cutthroat business at all times of the year and I needed caffeine to deal with today. I filled my cup with the gourmet coffee we luckily got at the office when I felt a body come out behind me.

"Hi Lila." A deep voice I recognized said into my ear, making me jump and turn towards him.

"Travis?" I asked, blinking. What was he doing here? He smirked and then gestured to the pot.

"Can I have some?"

"It's only for the people who work here you know." I bit down my lip, but humored him anyways, pouring the hot liquid into the travel mug he held out.

"I do work here." he said quietly before bringing the cup to her lips and taking a big gulp. I felt my eyes widen.

"But you said-"

"Don't you like surprises?" he interrupted, pulling away and leaning against the counter. I took a long minute to look over him, dressed in a sharp three piece suit he looked completely delicious.

"You look different in a suit."

"I take it as a compliment." He took another sip and I noticed how his hand almost overwhelmed the mug….I couldn’t help but thinking about them on me.

“It was.” I admitted, smiling as I sipped my coffee and he gave me a confused look again.

“Black coffee?”

“Actually I prefer tea, but coffee does the job.” He sipped his own coffee and something about the way he drank made me feel warm all over. But he hadn’t called me…nor did he let me know he worked in the same building I did. And though there weren’t technically rules against inter-office dating? It wasn’t something I went about doing.

“I never liked tea.” He said while he looked at me. It was if he was thinking about something else entirely.

“Do you like not calling pretty girls?” I offered, watching his reaction. He grinned and then took another sip.

“I thought I told you I lost your number.”

“For looking so good in a suit you certainly look like you don’t know how to hold on to important documents.” I licked my lips and walked towards my office, though I felt him following behind me.

“You look good in a suit too.” I looked back at him.

“A suit or a pencil skirt?” I set my coffee cup on my desk and looked up. He was kind of a vision leaning up against the door frame, smirking at me. I felt like the girl in high school with the football player about to ask her to prom. Then again I didn’t know how that felt. My brothers would have never let that happen.

“Both.”

“Good to know.”

"Do you get many compliments?" I opened my mouth, the man asked some seriously strange questions….

"I guess I do." I shrugged, being honest.

"And you still don't know how to take them?"  he asked, looking amused and slightly...he looked like he wanted to eat me up as much as I wanted him to. "A thank you would be polite. Nice even.” I bit back a smirk, sitting at my desk and leaning my elbows against the flat surface.

"Thank you Travis." I said slowly.

"I like how you say my name." he replied in a deep voice as he walked over to me, bending over to search my eyes. "I'm sure I'd like it even more if you were screaming it." Such a line, but it totally worked for me….but if I showed that? I’d be just like the other girls who took his looks as the only thing that mattered….but man. He just did it for me.

“You're distracting me from my job." I said back, totally unrelated and changing the topic.

"Running for best employee? Boring." he lifted his torso in a straighter position again, "It's just a lame excuse for making people work more and better." I played with my pencil, amused with his words since it was my own feeling exactly.

"Are you a slacker instead?" Travis laughed, a deep laugh that made my  body feel coiled and tight.

“Oh no, not at all. I like it hard." …..did he knew everything he said sounded hot?

“Then you’re boring also?” I asked, questioning his logic.

“Do you think I'm boring?” he asked.

“I don’t really know you.” I grabbed my glasses and turned to my computer, flicking through e-mails idly though being secretly happy he was still standing there.

“Do you want to?” I lifted my head up to look at him.

“That depends.” I took my glasses off again and let them hand on my thumb.

“On if what you mean by getting to know you.” He blinked.

“You know you’re very hard to read.” He said finally and I pushed back from my desk, crossing my legs.

“I've heard that before.” I grinned. “My brother Reece says the only thing that changes more than my hair color is my personality.” I frowned, because I was never quite sure if that was a compliment or not.

“You’re not a natural blonde?” I grinned.

“I’ve only been blonde for a month….I’m thinking about changing again.”

“I dunno….I like it.” I leaned into him a little more.

“I'm sure you’d like it red too.” He grinned.

“I like the glasses.” He commented. I pushed back out of my chair and walked up to him, closing the distance between us.

“You want to fuck me.” It wasn’t a question, but still I waited for a response.

“Clearly.” He said after recovering from the initial shock of my bluntness.

“So you’re wondering what you have to do to get there, and if it’s worth it.”  His eyes got a shade darker and I his lips pursed.

"If you get an inch closer to me you're going to be in danger." I felt like my heart actually stopped for a moment. I bit my lip, my leg taking a step closer without me even thinking.

"Oh really?" I asked, my voice struggling to remain normal. Travis grinned, knocking the wind out of me before grabbing my hips, pulling me flush against his hard body.

"I warned you." My breath caught in my throat, my hands moving towards his chest to push back but ugh he was hard all over it was hard not to stay.

“Tra-Travis what are you doing?" I blinked my eyes at him, tilting my head up and wishing there was more coming.

"I'm trying to figure out how to get what I want." He spoke slowly, in the same low timbre that made me feel shaky all over. I wasn’t sure what it was about him, I got hit on enough, was used to feeling attracted to someone but with him I felt 16 again half the time.

"We're at work, someone could see us." I let out, even though it was probably the last thing I cared about.

"But I'm doing nothing." he retorted. "Just some innocent tempting." he added before pulling away, my body missing the heat of his instantly.

“It’s not as tempting when you pull away…..” I almost whispered and he grinned again his hand reaching inside my blazer to hold my waist.

“Do you like it when I touch you?” it was blunt, his eyes boring into mine as he asked, demanding my honesty but god I barely knew him. How did he make me feel so damn vulnerable? And….needy.

“Do you?” I asked instead, not answering at all seeming safer than the truth.

“You’re great at deflecting Lila.” I licked my lips and leaned into his touch.

“You’re great at asking questions you already know the answer to.” My voice was heady, breathy…and I knew he could tell. He unnerved me. I was no stranger to lust, to attraction. But with Travis? It was a whole different story. A different kind of attraction. Like a magnet…I felt pulled to him.

“If I already knew the answer you wouldn’t have turned me down that night.” I pushed back my bangs and shook my head.

“It wouldn’t have mattered what you did that night. I'm just not that kind of girl.” He blinked.

“Every girl is that kind of girl for the right man.” He said it with such confidence that it made me grin.

“The right man asked me that night.” I admitted. “I must have better self control than “every girl”” Travis smirked.

“Or a really good vibrator.” I was shocked for a second but then I found his bluntness refreshing. And this time? Kind of funny. I smiled wide at him, leaning my body closer to feel his broad chest against mine.

“I prefer removable shower heads….but yes.” I grinned and then pulled back, reaching for my coffee cup.

"Nothing feels as good as the real thing." he said eventually, shrugging his shoulders. Which was more than true, which is why I had Riley. Well why we had each other I mean. I didn’t mind being used as long as I was doing the same.

"I agree on that one." I paused to sip my coffee, "But it's better than nothing." I added.

"Did you think about me"? I opened my mouth, wondering what he was talking about for a second but then realizing it. Blunt. And Cocky.

"That's something I can't really tell you." I replied. Honestly I had refused to think about him whenever he popped into my head, remembering him only as a hot guy who never called me.

"I'm flattered."

"I didn't say-"

"You didn't need to." Cocky again. Not that I could blame him, I'm sure most girls that met him kept his image securely in their personal spank bank.

"I better go back to my office."

"You didn't like my answer so you're going away?" I asked in a quiet tone.

"I liked the answer you didn't give me, I know you're attracted to me but it won't get me anywhere. You're just a tease Lila." He shrugged nonchalantly as he started walking backwards toward the door, "You're young after all. I can't really blame you."

“Oh.” I felt myself grinning at him.

“Oh?” I shrugged.

“See now you’re telling yourself I'm not worth it and coming up with reasons.” I pointed out, his young comment not really bothering me…the fact that he seemed disinterested did.

“You’re not in my mind you wouldn’t know what I'm thinking.” I nodded as I looked into my coffee, taking a sip and setting it down next to me.

“I’d love to be in your mind. It seems dark and dangerous but tempting all at the same time.” I said honestly though I also wanted to be all over the outside of him too, see if he was as sculpted under his suit as his strong jaw line and broad shoulders suggested.

“You’re playing games. I don’t do that.” I shook my head and walked closer.

“I'm not playing anything. There’s a difference between being a tease and being worth the wait.” Travis rose a brow, his actions telling me he wasn’t a waiting man. It wasn’t surprising, I'm sure plenty of girls would go home with him at the drop of a hat. But that wouldn’t just be my loss it would be his too.

“I'm guessing you’re suggesting that you’re the latter.”

“That’s up for you to decide Travis.” I replied, deciding that I would probably enjoy the way his name fell from my lips in the heat of passion just as much as he would. But I wasn’t going to tell him that. He didn’t like teasing after all.

"I feel like we're saying the same things again and again." He commented, which was true, he just couldn’t seem to wrap his head around the idea that I wasn’t some bar bimbo.

"Meaning?" I asked, wanting to know his point of view.

"I know what you mean, that you're worth the wait." He said and the look in his eyes changed for a minute. It was less predatory, a little less guarded. And just as sexy. “I'm sure you are, I mean look at you. You're hot, have a brain, and I don't really know you but I can tell you're worthy."
I nodded slowly, wondering where he was going with his speech. "Uh, thanks I guess..."

"You're welcome." He smiled and ran his hands through his hair, a combination that was probably lethal to straight women everywhere.

"I'm waiting for you to go on." I said quietly and bit back a smirk.

"Right, I got distracted for a moment.” He admitted, making me wonder just what that meant. “I don't wait Lila, that's it. Waiting is for men who want more than just bringing a girl home, and I don't want that instead. It doesn't matter if you're worth waiting or not."

“Ever?” I questioned, looking into those stunning eyes and trying to see what went on inside his head. He just shook his head and I sighed. “Sounds lonely.” I admitted before shrugging.

“I-“ he started but I interrupted him.

“Are you not friends with girls then?” I asked him. He blinked.

“No.” I laughed and shook my head. “You find me amusing…” I nodded.

“Sometimes, now I just find you a little depressing and it’s easier to laugh.” I admitted.

“You don’t really have a filter do you?” I shook my head.

“No. So you can’t be lovers, and you can’t be friends.” I leaned back, sitting on my desk and looking over him. God he was just so hot. It was unreal.

“Sorry.” He shrugged and I sighed.

“Well call me if you ever change your mind.” He opened his mouth, probably to say something about never changing his mind but instead I interrupted. “I’ll call you if I ever need a cheap fuck.” I winked then grabbed my cup. I needed more coffee if I was going to handle the rest of the day.

"Good god." He said under his breath as he laughed and shook his head.

"What?" I asked, blinking back at him.

"I find you amusing."

"It doesn't sound like a compliment.”

"Wasn't it a compliment from you when you told me 3 minutes ago?" he asked, seeming relaxed as if he was in his own office, not a girl who’d just shot him down. Twice. Though technically did he turn me down this time? I wasn’t really sure anymore.

"Yes but it sounds different coming from you instead." I said back as I frowned.

"You're adorable."

"You keep saying that too and I'm not sure about that either." I pointed out.

"It's a good thing. You're like a baby." Okay that was just to see my reaction. Clearly he didn’t think of me like that since he’d propositioned me more than once since we met.

"Please. Is baby your type then?" I questioned, trying to make a point.

"You're not my type anymore." he winked and then he was gone. I stood there, watching the door like a weirdo when my phone rang.

“Trenton.”

“Hey. I want to see you.” I looked down at the phone and saw Riley’s name.

“I'm going to come over tonight.” I said simply, needing to get rid of the sexual frustration billowing up inside of me. Did that make me a bad person?
