heavy is the head that wears the crown by sassy
I put my t-shirt on as I watched Karlie laying in her bed, her body still naked under the white sheets. "What?" I asked with a groan, feeling her eyes on me and noticing the look on her face that I used to know a little too well.
"Do you really have to go?" She asked, her tone annoyed already even if, technically, I had done nothing.
I rolled my eyes at my ex, regretting sleeping with her already but knowing that if the chance would happen another time I'd do it again because I was a man and she, despite not being the girl I used to love anymore, she was great in bed. "You know that already." I said flatly, running my hands through my hair as I made my way out of her room and walking straight out of her apartment.
"Call me asshole." Came her voice before I closed the door behind me and headed to the parking lot where I had left my bike, not even feeling guilty about leaving my ex like that because it was how things were now between us. And us didn't really exist anymore.

I stopped in my tracks, a blonde standing in front of Trenton's bar catching my eye. Lila, in all her beauty. I didn't lose a second and walked over her, noticing how her eyes weren't shiny as I had seen them the first time we had met, or the seconds, which were the only times I had ever seen her...but still. I didn't really understand girls, but sure I knew when there was something off.
“You look lost.” I said once I was close enough.
She turned to me and blinked. “I'm not.” She replied in a soft shaky voice. “What are you doing here?”
I rose a brow at her, suddenly aware that today it was the lame Aquarium day. “What are you doing here?”
She took a deep breath and pulled her hair out of her face with a hair tie. “That’s my brother’s bar.” She nodded towards the building.
I gave her a look of moderate interest since I had been there countless times. “Trenton’s is a good bar. There are a few of them in the bay area if I'm not mistaken.”
She nodded. “He’s hoping to expand some more.”
I gave her a long look, wondering what was different about her today. Not that I had seen her much, the contrary to be honest, but for some reason I had every detail of her face perfectly printed in my memory.
"What?" She asked quietly when I didn't talk, her voice not cheerful as usual and her attitude not as feisty as I had experienced before.
"You okay?" I asked back simply, sliding my hands into the pocket of my jeans as I kept my eyes on her.
She shrugged nonchalantly, looking at me with those big doe bambi eyes that showed how young she still was. She almost looked...fragile? I didn't even know. "Yeah I'm fine." She said eventually, blowing out a deep breath.
My gaze dropped on her lips and it hit me. She wasn't smiling. "You're pouting." I pointed out.
"I'm not pouting." She retorted as she crossed her arms against her chest, looking away.
"You're not smiling either and it's a shame." I offered a small grin, my eyes not leaving hers for even a second.
"Are you hitting on me again?" She raised one eyebrow slowly.
I shook my head, my grin turning into a smile. "Nah. I'm done with that."
“Wanna get drunk?”
I grinned and shrugged my broad shoulders. “I doubt I’d even fell the liquor by the time you were drunk.” I teased but she laughed, never bothered by whatever I said.
“You’d be pretty surprised.” She grinned.
I nodded towards her, my eyes dropping on her lips.“There’s that smile.”
She blinked, not frowning but looking back at me. “It’s not as good as yours.” She took a step away from me as if she couldn't handle being close. Which we weren't really. She was weird.
“Are you hitting on me again?” I smirked wide, teasing her.
“Yes.” She nodded, tilting her head to the side. “Is it working?”
“I told you already I'm not interested anymore.” I said seriously, meaning it.
She let out a long sigh and winced at me. “How cliché is it that that fact makes me want you more?” She asked, speaking her mind without thinking twice apparently.
She really had no filter, but it was refreshing.
“You’re young, cliché’s are allowed.” I said simply since her admission didn't change a thing.
“Too young?”
I nodded as I kept my face straight, "Yes, you could be my daughter."
"Oh come on, I'm not that young!" She protested with a chuckle, "And you're not old enough to have a daughter of my age anyway."
I grinned at her change of mood, a small part of me feeling good since it was on me. "Sister then?" I kept joking.
"That I could be, but I already have enough brothers thank you." She frowned, her eyes going to the pub behind us before landing back on my face. "Do you have any?"
"Yeah I have two brothers." I answered simply.
"I meant sisters." She explained and that chuckle came back again, giving me a hard time keeping my hands to myself. It was sexy, cute, and made her look like a doll. A doll I'd really like to play with. God that was fucked.
I shook my head as I did my best to keep my thoughts clean. "No, we're all boys."
She bit down on her lip and nodded, looking lost in her own thoughts again. I had no desire to know what they were but I'd be more than happy to help her get rid of them my way. "Will you buy me a drink?" She asked eventually, her face almost pained as if it her words were costing her a lot.
"This early in the morning?" I raised one eyebrow, "Hell no." I said firmly, never a fan of getting drunk during the day.
She bit down on her lip again, shooting me a coy look, "Does it mean you will later?" She cocked her head to the side, her golden hair cascading over her chest and making her look really tempting.
"So that you can trick me into hitting on you again and when I do you turn me down?" I laughed, starting to understand how her 22 year old mind worked. "No."
“Are your brothers as hot as you?” Lila asked out of nowhere.
I widened my eyes at her, wondering why she was even asking. “How should I know the answer to that?” I asked back, shaking my head. She was becoming a whole new level of weird.
She shrugged nonchalantly, “I know my brothers are good looking.” She replied seriously, like I cared.
“That’s a little different Lila.”
“Not really. I'm sure if they were someone would have told you.”
“They look a lot like me.” I ended, not knowing what else to say. “Why does it matter?”
She ran her tongue over her lips. “I can’t tell you, I don’t want your head to explode from too much ego.”
I rose my brow again, a smirk on my mouth and her eyes traveled there. “You’ve turned me down twice already I think my ego is safe around you.”
She laughed. “Let’s not get into that again.” She shook her head. “Well if you won't buy me a drink you’ll at least have to buy me some fries, I'm starving.” I looked at me for a second and she held up her hands. “I'm not trying to trick you into being friends with a girl don’t worry, you’re the one who came up to me first remember?”
“What is it you want from me exactly?” I asked, not really seeing the point in spending time with her and wanting to get things straight. I might be an asshole but at least I was honest about it.
“Fries.” She replied. “And maybe a sandwich.”
I stared at her for a moment, her face straight. "You're serious." I said slowly.
"Hell I am." She nodded as she bit back a grin, playing with a loose wisp of her blonde hair.
"Okay, let's go." I sighed and shook my head, thinking that she really was something. Something confusing and frustrating, but I had the day off and I was out of my bed anyway, I'd rather have company than being alone. "It looks like I'm babysitting today."
Her mouth dropped open in fake, or maybe not so fake, offence, her hand rolling into a fist and hitting my biceps. "I'm not a baby!" She protested.
I laughed and nodded toward the parking where I had left my bike, "You're not a baby, just little."
She rolled her eyes but decided to ignore my words, "Where are you going, I can have a sandwich and fries at my brother's pub." She said, not moving an inch.
I raised one eyebrow at her, wondering if she had really thought about that option. "Yes because I'm dying to know your brother right?" I said back flatly.
She pursed her lips together and blinked her eyes at me, sighing eventually as she caught up with me and started walking, "Not a good idea, I know." She agreed eventually, "We're taking your car...I guess." She added in a tiny voice that showed how satisfied she was about the change of plans, whatever hers were.
"Don't you trust me? I don't bite." I shot her an amused look, glancing sideways at her.
"I guess that's what I get for turning you down. Too bad." She sighed and I swear, it was like she was talking to herself and not realizing I was there.
My grin widened as we came to a stop, my hand fishing for the key of my bike in the pocket of my jeans, "Oh and no car."
Lila blinked as she looked over my baby. “You better have two helmets stashed somewhere.” She commented, setting her hands on her hips.
I chuckled, deciding to mess with her instead of giving her a serious answer. “You’ll mess up your hair.”
She shrugged. “Better that then have my head smashed across the street.” She pointed out and I blinked, wondering if she really thought I'd put at risk her safety. That was for 16 year old. “My brother’s a cop. Seen a lot of accidents. ”
I shook my head. “You’re right you have way too many brothers.”
She laughed at that before I tossed her the helmet that once had been Karlie's. “Are we going or what?”
I smirked at her, “I thought you were going to be scared.”
She shook her head. “You’re wrong. I love bikes instead…..Am I driving or are you going to get on?”
I looked at her for a second before hopping on the bike, wondering where all that impatience came from. She climbed on behind me and I grabbed her arms, wrapping them tightly around my abdomen. She scooted closer, her legs wrapped tightly around either side of me and kept quiet while the engine roared to life.
As I pulled out into the streets she finally spoke. “Do you know where you’re going?”
I smirked to myself, focusing on the road but getting sidetracked by how her body left against me, or how her hands were resting on my stomach while I wished they trailed further down. "Don't you have faith in me?" I asked when we stopped at the red lights, turning my head just to slightly to look into her eyes.
"I was just asking!" She answered defensively, her feisty attitude back and making me shook my head.
The lights turned green again and I gave gas, my motorcycle running fast through the traffic, zigzagging between cars, Lila's arms tightening around my waist as I glanced quickly at her from the side mirror. Her face was priceless. I stopped abruptly, making her body bump against mine. "Here we are." I said and before I could turn off the bike she was already jumping down, taking the helmet off and glaring at me.
"Were you trying to get us killed?" She almost yelled, using the helmet to hit my arm. I didn't say anything but grinned as my helmet came off too and I ran my hand through my hair, staring at her. "What??" She asked, frustration in her tone.
"Didn't you love bikes?" I raised one eyebrow, amusement in my tone.
"You drove like a psycho." She kept glaring at me before letting out a deep breath and shaking her head.
"Ops." I smirked wider and got on my feet, stretching my hand in her direction, "Come on, let's go get your fries."
She blinked, looking taken aback, "I'm not going to hold your hand."
At that I laughed, because she really was adorable. Oh young girls, so naive and clueless. "I want the helmet darling." I explained, my smirk so wide that I was pretty sure it went from ear to ear.
Lila's face flushed as she tossed me her helmet before walking in front of me towards the restaurant and making a point of not looking at me.
“I’ll remember you’re not a hand holder though.” I laughed from behind her, amused once again.
Joan lit up when she saw me. “Hey Travis.” She grinned and I nodded towards her.
“Hi.” I said curtly and looked at her blankly. “Table for two?” I added when she just kept staring.
She blinked and then nodded. “Oh…right.”
Lila bit back a grin instead. “What?” I asked as we sat down.
She shrugged and crossed her legs, pulling her phone out of her bag and setting it next to her on the table. “Nothing.” She shook her head. “Reminding myself why I don’t want to sleep with you.”
I rose a brow since her list was neverending apparently. “What reasons have you come up with so far?” I asked.
She smirked, as if not sleeping with me was good. If only she knew. “Besides that you’re old?” She teased.
I laughed at that and nodded. “Yes besides that.”
“I don’t want any man I’ve gone to bed with to treat me the way you just treated her.” She said seriously. “He should at the very least smile at me.”
I adjusted my back against the chair, never liking being judged before there was even something to judge. "Why are you assuming I slept with her?" I asked, wondering how far her imagination had gone.
She shrugged, her eyes wandering around instead of staying on mine, "She looked a little hurt."
"Do you think I'm so stupid that I'd take you somewhere near any of the girls I slept with?" I stared at her blankly, "I might be not interested but god, I have a brain."
"But-" She started, biting down on her lip as her cheeks turned a darker shade of pink.
"She acts like this because I didn't sleep with her, that's why." I cut her off shortly and eyed Joan instead, who was walking to our table with no enthusiasm.
"Ready to order?" She asked, taking a pen out of the pocket of her white shirt that showed enough to let me know that she was wearing a black bra.
"Everything allright?" I said instead as I kept looking at her and offered a smile, wondering why I had turned her down so many times. She was petite, her body tight with perky breasts and a perfect ass, her long black hair framed her beautiful face...she was my type after all, brunettes with green eyes were my favorite.
She seemed to be surprised by my question and smiled immediately, "Yeah, you know. The usual." She shrugged nonchalantly but her cheeks were turning red already, "What about you?"
"I'm great." I smirked at her, knowing the effect it had on her.
She bit down on her lip and nodded, looking slightly embarrassed, "So, uh, what are you taking?"
"Just coffee for me." I answered politely then looked at Lila who was wearing an unreadable expression.
"I'll take a chicken focaccia sandwich, fries, and some water thank you." She said in monotone before giving the menu back to Joan, who shot me another smile before walking away.
I cocked my head to the side, my attention back on Lila and her only, "Happy now? Did I smile enough?" I said in a sarcastic tone as I kept my smirk in place.
Lila nodded, giving me a wide smile that looked a little fake to be honest. “Yes actually that was more than enough, she looks much less like she wants to go cry in the back room.”
I shot her another look and leaned back. “More than enough?” I questioned slowly since I knew women good enough to know that something like that never was good no matter how it sounded.
She nodded. “Not only did you pay her some attention, but you did it by ignoring the girl you’re with. I'm sure her ego is all settled now.”
“Huh….you’re annoyed when I don’t pay attention to girls, you’re offended when I do. Is this normal date behavior?” I grinned at her.
“I'm not offended. But that’s because I'm not your date either.”
“Fair enough.” I grinned wider, noticing how her eyes avoided mine once again.
“If we were on a date we’d be in bed by now.” She said in a fit of honesty. This girl really needed to filter her thoughts, for her own good.
“It’s pretty early.” I replied as she made a point of not looking at me, instead flipping through the dessert menu.
“And?” She asked, peeking at me finally.
"And nothing." I shrugged as I stared at her, smirking when she broke eye contact once again, this time to look at Joan who set a cup of coffee in front of me and bit down on her lip seductively. "Thank you." I told her as she walked away, appreciating her body since Lila was giving me zero satisfaction but only teasing me to no end.
The blonde snapped her fingers under my nose, making me blink, "Hey, don't get distracted you were about to say something."
"I said nothing instead." I raised one eyebrow at her, vaguely amused as I leaned into her from across the table and of course she leaned back instead. At that I shook my head and rested my back against the chair, making the distance between us grow again. "You might be the biggest tease ever."
"What?!" She widened her eyes at me and crossed her arms against her chest, "We were taking and-"
"If we were in bed we wouldn't be talking." I cut her off as I smirked before grabbing my cup and taking a long sip.
She pursed her lips together, as if she was struggling not to talk. "What would be doing?" She asked in a barely audible whisper.
"I'm not going to give you material for your dirty dreams, I'm sure you already have enough fantasy to guess what I could do to you." I answered quietly, not wanting to torture myself with thinking about her naked between me and my bed.
Lila let out a deep breath and shook her head. “It doesn’t make any sense you’re not even my type.” She growled at the table and made me chuckle.
“Right back at you.” I said back.
She shot me a glare, looking annoyed. “Good.” She nodded.
“Good?”
“Can we change the subject?”
My lip quirked upward as I noticed her swing of mood once again, it was like she was on hormonal rollercoasters or something. Girls. “Do I frustrate you?” I asked instead.
“Very much.” She admitted as I was tempted to point out that she was the cause of her own frustration. I wasn't doing anything after all, and maybe that was the problem.
I leaned into her again, not wanting to help her with her frustration but to make it worse instead. She had to remember that she had turned me down, and regret it too possibly. “Good.” I grinned widely.
“No it sucks instead. You should just take me home now so we can get it over with.” She said it under her breath as the waitress set her food in front of her while I started to wonder if this filter thing was just an excuse to tease me instead. She stuffed the sandwich in her mouth, eating greedily.
“Lila.” I said in a low voice. She looked up at me with a mouthful of food and blinked. “I’ll let that time slip but I swear if you give me an opening again it will be the last words you say until I'm inside of you.”
She struggled to swallow her food without choking. "I’ll remember that.” She whispered.
I nodded as I focused on any thought that didn't involve me inside of her, swallowing a large gulp of coffee. "Good." I said eventually, it being my favorite word apparently.
"Is that all you have to say?" She asked, furrowing her brows.
"Why didn't you go to the Aquarium?" I asked instead, changing the subject completely before she could go on with the teasing.
"I was hoping some blonde guy would pick me up from the road and buy me food." She said seriously before breaking into a grin, her hand reaching for a few fries and popping them into her mouth.
I smiled at her silliness, but also at how genuine she could be. The perks of being young and having a brain. "You got lucky." I commented shortly, watching her eat like a cute little animal.
"Oh you know that." She winked at me as she sipped her water, licking her top lip once she swallowed and making my dick twitch. "What about you?"
"What about me?" I echoed her, staring into her green eyes.
"Why you didn't go." She shrugged, crossing her legs and bumping her knee against mine in the process, "Sorry."
I smirked and clasped my hands on the table, that way I was less tempted to just grab her leg. "Do you look like the type of guy who goes to Aquariums?" I asked back.
"Only if you're in the sharks tank." She answered with a chuckle, looking pretty amused by her own words.
"What, why?" I laughed. God this girl was...I didn't even know. But she could be really funny.
"Dangerous and still very charming." She grinned at me, then pouted when she noticed that her plate was now empty.
I fought the urge of telling her that I, as a shark, was very hungry, and her pink porcelain skin looked really really delicious. "It seemed like a waste of time to me." I said instead.
"But you got in town anyway?"
"I like taking out my bike on my days off." I shrugged, "Or maybe I was just looking for a prey."
“You found me instead.” Lila laughed and I looked at her before shaking my head and taking another sip of his coffee. “Good coffee?” She smirked.
“You didn’t really answer me.”
She took a breath and looked around the room. “If I tell you then we’d be dangerously close to being friends and I know how off limits that is for you.” When I didn’t reply she gulped down the rest of her water and set it down. “My father used to take me to the Aquarium. He died when I was 15. I never went back.”
“I'm sorry.” I said, in a loss of word to be honest.
She nodded. “It was a long time ago.” She sighed. “Way to bring down the mood right?” She asked, setting her head on her hand and watching me.
“How many brothers and sisters do you have?” I asked, furrowing my brow as she chuckled.
“There are 8 of us all together.”
“A lot to raise alone.” I commented.
"Yes. My mom is an incredible woman, but there wasn’t much raising left to do. I'm the baby and I only had 3 years left before I went to Yale.”
I blinked again. “You went to Yale?”
She grinned. “What? Artsy girls can’t be smart?” She teased me. “Graphic Design might sound simple but I assure you it’s not.”
“I have no doubts that you’re smart Lila.” I said simply. “You just don’t strike me as wanting to go all ivy league.”
“I wanted to get away for a while. It worked.”
I nodded, trying to figure out what to say. On one hand I was curious to hear more, she definitely got my attention with Yale, but on the other all this talking sounded foreign to me. I was more a man of action. "Why did you want to get away?" I asked eventually, giving in.
She chuckled and shook her head, "I can't give away all my secrets." She said in a coy tone.
"Why not?" I retorted, smirking at her, "You got me intrigued already..
"It wouldn't be far, you're sharing nothing." She said seriously and I smirked even wider, thinking about all the things I'd be happy to share with her. Like my bed or my shower. When she noticed she blushed, "And don't give me that look."
I shrugged but refused to stop my thoughts, or looking into her eyes. "I'm not saying anything."
"You don't really need to." She sighed and bit down on her lip, looking frustrated once again.
I leaned into her again, knowing by now how that made her uncomfortable, it not being the right word but still. "I'm easy to read?" I asked, glancing down at her mouth as I waited for her answer.
"Not at all." She said slowly, her lips moving in a sensual way even though really, she was just talking. God now much I hated not getting what I wanted. "Tell me more."
My eyes refused to move from her mouth, my head shaking, "I like hearing you talk."
“I think that might be the nicest thing you’ve said to me.” Lila replied softly moving her gaze from my lips to my eyes. “But do you like hearing me talk? Or do you just like watching?”
I smiled at her words since girls usually didn't care about that difference. “Can’t it be both?”
She licked her lips and shrugged. “Still, I'm not saying more unless you say something too.”
“Do you want to watch me talk Lila?”
She grinned and tilted her head to the side. “Maybe.”
“I went to Stanford for finance.” I said, giving her something of myself that didn't involve anything too personal. She blinked at me. “What?”
She shrugged. “I guess I assumed something else.” I shot her a look, and she went on. “I figured you went to school for sports and got injured…..couldn’t play.”
My body stiffened and I shook my head. “You couldn’t know that.” I replied, not admitting how close to truth she was.
She shrugged. “When I was at Will’s game and we were talking. It’s just the vibe I got.” She said nonchalantly while I stared at her again, wondering where all that assuming came from. “I'm sorry if it brings up bad feelings…..” She trailed off.
“The past is the past.” I said gruffly and she nodded with no conviction.
“You said you had brothers.”
I nodded. “Two. I'm the youngest.” At that she widened her eyes and I blinked again. “What? Your mind reading didn’t guess that about me?” I teased.
She laughed. “You don’t come off as the baby.” She admitted, grinning as she rimmed her glass with her finger idly.
"I said I'm the youngest, but I'm not the baby." I grinned back at her.
"Uh, is that spot already taken?" She joked as she flipped her hair back, moving the air around her and sending a wave of her sweet scent straight in my direction, leaving me wonder how it'd be to bite her pale pink skin while inhaling her deeply.
I nodded, "Yep. Rob's little sister." I said simply, too distracted by how much I wanted to do things to her and her tight body.
"Aw, that's cute." She smiled genuinely, giving me the same answer any other girl would give when it was about babies or puppies. She parted her lips slowly, her eyes on me, looking as if she was about to say something when her phone started vibrating against the table.
I didn't move my gaze from her and she didn't move at all, making me smirk, "You can take it."
She glanced briefly at the phone then turned it off, giving me a tight smile. "Nah." She shook her head, her blonde locks waving over her shoulders.
"Did you get what you want?" I asked after a moment of silence. It had been nice talking to her, but after all it wouldn't take me anywhere, mostly not where I wanted to go, and I had other plans for the day.
She blinked at me, visibly taken aback, "What?"
I grinned widely, wondering where her thoughts were. "Your food."
"Oh right." She grinned back at me as she blushed, "Yes I feel so much better now. And thank you."
"Thank you? I didn't even pay yet." I winked at her and she rolled her eyes as I got up, pulling out a few bills and leaving them on the table. She got up too, walking ahead of me and giving me a great view of her ass as we headed out.
Lila stopped when we got to my bike. “You’re not going to drive like a crazy man again right?” She asked, making me laugh again.
“You never know.” I grinned and tossed her a helmet.
“I'm parked in the lot you were in before.” She said strapping it on and waiting for me to mount the bike before she cautiously slid on behind me, her arms wrapping around my waist.
“I remember.” I smirked and zoomed off making her yelp a little.
“TRAVIS!” She yelled. “There are speed limits for a reason!!!” She held on to me tighter and my abs tightened as I chuckled.
“Rules were meant to be broken darling.” I replied.
“That is so cliché.” She said, squealing as we turned a corner and I felt her hide her face against my back, basically cuddling him even when we stopped. She blushed while she pulled away, handing me her helmet.
“This is your car?” I asked, smirking at the green Volkswagen beetle.
“Is that a problem?”
I smirked and shook my head. “Nope, it fits you.”
She grinned. “I think so too.” She took a deep breath, leaning in and pressing a kiss against my cheek. “Thanks for the fries.” She replied, leaving me watching her as she walked away.
