life's a game made for everyone and love is a prize by sassy
Sunday, June 30th; It's male fashion week again, either you're on the runway, watching from the first row, or working backstage, it's going to be busy at the Saint Laurent show.
"You're making my job really easy with that gorgeous face of yours," Cami said as I kept my eyes closed.
I opened my eyes as she pulled back, done with whatever she was putting on his eyelids. I couldn't care less, as long as I had her hands on me and not Fernando's I wasn't going to complain. Also, that gave me an excuse to spend a little time with her, which was something I always cherished. My eyes dropped down to her ass and I smiled, "You're much easier on the eyes than Fernando."
"You better not tell him that," She tossed her head over her shoulder to wink at him. "He's a very jealous man."
"Is he done?" Tristan cut into the conversation, tossing down the GQ he had been reading.
"You better not tell him that," She tossed her head over her shoulder to wink at him. "He's a very jealous man."
"Is he done?" Tristan cut into the conversation, tossing down the GQ he had been reading.
Cami looked at him with wide eyes, not yet immune to his bad attitude even though they'd known each other for a year now. "I'm done with your boyfriend," She grinned at him, leaving him smiling back. I knew that my friend liked her, but then again, it was impossible not to like her, she was nice and genuine, along with many other things. "Good luck in the show," She said to me and squeezed my hand before grabbing the cellphone off the vanity and walking away.
Tristan's eyes followed mines as we both stared at her ass, watching it sway a little as she left us. "Stop," I said under my breath.
He grinned and tilted his head in my direction, "Stop what?"
"Grinning while you stare at her ass," I said flatly.
He shrugged and made his face serious instead, "She has a nice ass. You're allowed to appreciate that, but I can't? Do I need to remind you that you're not her boyfriend?"
"Do I need to remind you that you're my boyfriend?" I asked as I shot him a grin, being silly instead of admitting my feelings. Not that I'd ever be worried about Tristan making a move on my ex, his looking was innocent and not followed by any action. He was just a man after all, and Cami's ass was really hard not to notice.
He stared at me flatly as if he was torn between calling me out and giving up instead. "So you're jealous of me?" He asked back, a small grin playing on his own lips and I was grateful that he decided not to take the serious road. If there was someone I'd admit my feelings to, that was him, just not now.
I nodded as I kept a straight face, pushing a stool in his direction, "Only always. I mean, look at you, you're handsome." I joked even there was a lot of truth in my words. I was a model and knew what handsome was.
"Is Cami's boyfriend handsome too?" He asked right away, always ready with his comebacks. Tristan could be hard on people, sometimes too honest, but I liked that about him, it was one of the reasons why I trusted him and our friendship. Also, he didn't gossip, except for with me of course.
At the mere mention of that word I groaned, "I don't know if she has a boyfriend." I answered instead. I knew that she was seeing that Italian loser again, thanks to Chloe, but I didn't know much about how things were between them. I could only hope it wasn't anything serious.
"I think I saw him picking her up after a photo shoot." He said casually, getting my attention immediately.
"Then you already know that I'm more handsome than him." I let a grin play on my lips even if it was a forced one since being better looking than him didn't really make me feel better.
Tristan shrugged, looking as if he wasn't sure about what he was going to say. "You're more handsome then most men I know," He tossed me a grin while I raised a brow. "Most men? Are you trying to make me jealous?"
He laughed, shaking his head, "I've only got eyes for you, handsome." One of the leggy, willowy models passed by and eyed us curiously. Most people didn't know how to take our friendship since Tristan had a rep for being an asshole while he was the complete opposite with me. My opinion was that if people judged him only by his cover he missed out the amazing man he was under that. She sped up a little as he lifted a brow at her, giving her one of his infamous stares that made most models speechless. "Speaking of jealousy though, how's Celeste?"
I shook my head and gave him a look, "She's not a jealous person."
"I was referring to myself," He smirked. "I know nothing about your girlfriend except that she's a little too young for you and throws hissy fits when you try to give her the boot after a booty call."
"Meaning you're jealous of her? Don't be handsome." I said as I tried to kept a straight face, getting a laugh out of him. He shook his head and raised one eyebrow, giving me a look as if I was in some way hopeless, but didn't say anything so I went on. "She's not my girlfriend anyway." I pointed out.
His brow stayed in place, "No? Then who is she?"
"Is Evie or Erin? Or Brigitte?" I asked back, knowing I had a point. Maybe I was wrong, not wanting to define my relationship with Celeste, but he, among everyone, was the one who could understand me for more reasons that one.
"I can't have three girlfriends." He grinned at me, leaving me wonder if he had a favorite. I had a favorite, it was Erin. She was gorgeous and smart, plus she looked really good next to him, I was almost jealous.
I shrugged as I grinned back at him, lifting my hand to run it through my hair but dropping it on my lap a second later when I remembered that my hair was done already and I couldn't touch it. "Why not? Too much to handle?" I teased him since I already knew why he was against that and I couldn't really blame him. He had a point, plus I'd never judge him.
"I'm afraid that none of them would be girlfriend material," Tristan admitted out loud, sounding even more gay than when we openly joked about our friendship and being in love with each other.
I lifted a brow, "Explain."
"Evie spends half of her time in London and is more focused on work than anything, Erin is busy with school and becoming a doctor, and Brigitte?" He winced a little while I guessed I had missed something.
"The redhead? She's hot, but she's awful," I said seriously, remembering when I met her. She seemed to be a lot like Chloe.
He laughed at my reaction, "Yeah. See, everyone has their downsides and I'm going to end up forever alone."
"Or you'll end up being a trophy husband to Dr. Martin," I said as a joke.
He narrowed his eyes on me, "So when are you and Celeste going to start booking shoots together? You'll be the next annoying model couple."
"What's with the attitude now?" I asked with an eyebrow raised but kept my tone playful. "Jealous already? We're not a couple yet."
He sighed and dropped his hands on his lap, "Yet?" He asked eventually.
"Never." I said more seriously, the subject a touchy one. Everyone seemed to be impatient for me to be officially with Celeste, while I was far from that. "We'll never be the next annoying couple."
"You're too cute to be annoying." He kept teasing me with a huge grin on his face as he crossed his arms against his chest, his eyes not leaving me.
I ignored him in favor to look at the mirror, no matter if I knew my face by memory. Truth was, I didn't even know what I was doing anymore, I liked Celeste, she was good to spend time with, but I knew that there was something missing and part of me also knew that we'd never get to the point to be serious. Still, I was trying. "Speaking of which, how was the shot with my sister?"
"I wasn't part of the shoot. I only made sure that everything went smoothly." He explained, as if he needed to.
I turned my head in his direction, raising one eyebrow as I thought about the rumors Celeste talked to me about. "I heard differently." I said flatly.
"And what did you hear?" Tristan asked, looking annoyed instantly since he didn't want rumors going around about him. I couldn't blame him, it was pretty obnoxious, but even if he was a model he was around them a lot, so it was inevitable no matter how much he didn't like it.
"That you were getting handsy," I said and he groaned.
"I know that she's your sister, but she has a big mouth," He said seriously, assuming that Chloe had spilled the beans since that was so her.
I cracked a grin, "It was Celeste actually, but you're right, she does."
"Celeste is gossiping about me now?" He grinned, "She's still in high school, right? Or does she just act like a high schooler?"
"I see I touched a nerve," I retorted with a brow lifted, not really liking the jokes about Celeste being young anymore.
"Your sister is one frustrating woman," He said flatly.
"What's new." I retorted just as flatly, wondering what he was leaving out, if something. The thing about Tristan was that, despite us being close, he rarely talked about his girls and it worked just fine for me since I was the same but now that the subject was my sister I couldn't help wondering what was going on. I trusted him, but Chloe? She was a time bomb and no matter how my friend was set on ignoring her or dislike her, she was a stubborn girl who'd do anything to get what she wanted, even stomping her feet like a three year old.
He shrugged as he shot me a blank look, "Then why did you even bother to ask?"
I let a smirk appear on my lips this time, not letting him twist the subject at his own advantage. "I didn't ask you if my sister's frustrating. Actually, I didn't ask you anything."
"Good, it means I have to answer to nothing." He said back and his smirk matched mine, only bigger.
"Sure that you have nothing worth to share?" I asked with an eyebrow raised, guessing that I'd rather hear things from himself than from Celeste or anyone else. Rumors are just rumors, they couldn't be trusted, but they always hid some truth and while I didn't care most of the time, now that it was about my sister and my best friend I did. If he said that there was nothing to tell though? I'd believe him and wouldn't ask twice.
"I have enough problems with the girls I'm seeing now, do you really think I need another woman in my life?" Tristan lifted a brow. "And your sister at that?"
"Good point," I said and finally relaxed, knowing that he was right. "So how are your girls?"
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, looking lost in a thought. "Your sister met Brigitte last weekend and it didn't go very well... not for me at least," He admitted while I forced myself not to groan again.
"Can you stop starting your sentences with 'your sister'?"
"Done," He smirked. "Let me rephrase that, I took Brigitte to the Lagerfeld party and she wanted to start drama with an unnamed blonde. She stormed out of the party and hasn't called me since."
I nodded my head, processing his words and trying to skip around the part that involved my sister. "Good thing there's two more still," I cracked a grin while he laughed. "Erin's always been my favorite anyways."
"Meh," He shrugged it off. "Enough about me. Fill me in on where you've been the past few weeks, I've hardly seen you."
"Have you been missing me?" I smiled, trying to keep a serious face.
"Only always," He said honestly, making light of it though.
I furrowed my brows, faking a straight face, "Did you cry at night thinking about me?"
He shot me a smirk as he crossed his arms against his chest, "Kind of." He answered, playing along with me as usual.
"I'm back now, you won't have to suffer anymore." I shrugged and glanced at my wrist before realizing I had no watch, but my guess was that I still had some time before the show. I looked up and noticed the amused expression on his face, but he didn't say anything which, in our code, meant that he wouldn't add a word until I told him what he had missed out. "I went to Milan for fashion week, walked a few runways...the usual." I shrugged.
"I know that." He said back flatly, making it obvious that work wasn't what he wanted to know about. "I bet you cheated on me with Sean."
I gave him an amused look, shaking my head, "We went out together, but you're still the only man for me."
At that he laughed, "Enough being gay, tell me something it's worth your breath."
"Never enough." I grinned at him then my expression turned impassive, wanting to share with my best friend my thoughts but also not knowing how to do it without looking like an idiot. "I slept with Cami."
"You slept with Cami?" He echoed me, his brows shooting up in surprise and I knew that he got it wrong.
"I did, but we really slept. Just that." I explained, trying not to think about how long I had spent looking at her before falling asleep since I wasn't going to said that out loud and risk to sound like a creep.
His expression went blank as he processed that, biting back a smirk and almost making me regret to tell him. "Did you cuddle too?" Tristan asked eventually and grinned. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, catching myself instantly and letting out a groan. I had just ruined one hour of the hairstylist's job. "Your morning wood didn't ruin the romantic moment?"
"Hilarious," I picked up my empty bottle of water and chucked it at his head, narrowly missing him by not more than a few inches.
"Hey! Trying to kill me?!" He held both hands up in mock innocence, "I was only curious."
"We didn't cuddle," I said in a more serious tone, leaving out the part that involved my hands itching to touch her and not necessarily in a naughty way, I would've been content with holding her.
"But you wanted to," He said with a grin on his face, his words more a statement than a question.
The thing about Tristan, Chloe, my parents, was that he thought he knew everything about me and Cami and never missed a chance to voice their opinion. "Did I say that?"
"No." He let his grin widen, "You don't need to. Hell, I'd even cuddle her. It's already been established that she has a nice body."
I shot him a blank stare, "Remind me to never tell you anything again."
He smiled more innocently, "Okay, I take it back. So you two slept together and then...?"
"Nothing." I said flatly and ignored the smile on his face which was actually far from innocent. There wasn't even an innocent bone in Tristan.
"Oh come on, don't get all grumpy now." He smirked wide like the Cheshire cat, amused by my swing of mood. Every time I promised myself to keep my mood in check when Cami was brought up, and every time I failed. It was a touchy subject.
I shot him a side glance, my face blank, "I'm not." I said weakly.
"I just want to know what else happened." He grinned even wider, only making me roll my eyes, "I'm curious."
"Curiosity killed the cat." I raised one eyebrow at him.
"I'm no cat." He retorted.
My eyes dropped on his mouth then back to his eyes, and I finally let a small smirk appear on my own lips too. "You look like the Cheshire cat right now."
He shrugged, looking slightly amused by my comparison, "He had a fat a.ss, I don't."
At that, I couldn't help but laugh. "Fair enough." I shook my head and dropped my hands on my lap, fighting the urge to touch my hair. Again. "Anyway, nothing happened with Cami. We slept, then I got up, I made her coffee and left her there with Gabe when I went to work." I explained quickly, guessing that if I told him he'd stop torture me.
Tristan nodded his head, studying my face as if he wasn't believing my words fully. "And what are you leaving out?" He asked skeptically.
"Nothing," I shook my head slowly and it was true. There wasn't much more to say, except for my thoughts of that night, but those were strictly personal.
"So you told Celeste?" He asked even though he knew the answer already.
"There's nothing to tell her," I started and shrugged it off. "Plus she's -"
"Not your girlfriend," He cut me off with a grin. "So I've heard."
"Just thought I'd remind you since you're a bad listener," I grinned back and felt a little more at ease.
He held his hand to his heart and did his best pout, "Me a bad listener? I'm offended."
"You, offended?" I asked with a smirk as I looked at his expression. It always killed me how he had such a silly side but didn't show it to anyone but me, I almost felt honored. "Never."
"You're bruising my ego." He warned with an eyebrow raised.
"Doubtful. Your ego is indestructible." I smirked, loving teasing him always and it worked both ways. "And huge." I added.
He let out a small laugh that proved me right, "It's not like you're any better."
I bit back a grin and ignored him as I shrugged, "I can't blame you though, you have two or three girls stroking it constantly."
"That's my dick, not my ego." He retorted as he shot me a cocky smirk, crossing his arms against his chest.
"Same difference." I said back.
"You have someone who does that too, or is Celeste too young to have sex?" He asked, faking a straight serious face.
His words got me groaning and I rolled my eyes, "Hilarious, really." I said flatly.
This time it was his turn to ignore me, "Why didn't I meet her already?"
"I'm sure you did at castings."
"That doesn't count." He said casually, "I'm looking forward a proper introduction."
I grinned, deciding to be silly instead of taking him seriously. I had nothing against that, only it seemed pointless to me. On the other hand through, Celeste often asked me to meet my friends, and Tristan was definitely one of those I'd let her meet. "We should go on a double date, but only if you're mine. I know how much you'd love that."
"And who'd Celeste bring? Cami?" He winked at me, knowing exactly the right punches to pull. I tried to ignore it, it wasn't fun, not for me at least. "Who'd you go home with at the end of the night? The answer better be 'you Tristan' or I'm cutting you off."
A grin broke out across my face at his last words, "You Tristan."
He let his grin match mine, "You're too good to me sweetheart. Celeste is a lucky woman."
My smile faltered ever so slightly, "What's your fascination with her anyways?"
He shrugged. "A little birdy told me that she thinks you and Cami are going to get back together, so I try to gauge your reaction when I bring up Celeste," He said seriously. "And honestly? You don't show much interest in the girl, not that you do towards Cami either, but still."
I processed his words and I knew he had a point, I wasn't big on sharing my thoughts or my feelings, even with someone like Tristan who was basically my twin soul. My guess was that I was just a private person. "Who's this little birdy with a big mouth?" I asked with a brow raised, knowing the answer already but wanting to change the subject and not just because I didn't like it. I wanted to know more about the birdy and my friend because I felt as if there was still something I wasn't able to grasp.
"That's beside the point." He grinned at me as he waved his hand in the air and looking a little gay if you asked me. But then again, we were a little so I didn't mind it.
"You never saw me with her so you can't know if I show interest or not." I answered eventually with a shrug. Okay so maybe I wasn't lost for Celeste, not even close to falling for her, but I tried to be good to her. She was a nice distraction and a good way to keep my mind away from how much I missed Gabe when he was with Cami. Not that it worked for more than one hour, but still.
"I saw you with Cami less than 30 minutes ago." He retorted.
"I meant Celeste." I explained flatly, getting back a smug grin from him. "I might be bad at sharing my thoughts, but you're not any better." I added, both of us knowing exactly what my point was.
"What do you want me to open up about? My feelings?" Tristan grinned, making this whole conversation sounding a lot like we were a couple. No wonder why there were rumors going on around us, not that I cared. If I were gay? At least I had a great taste and got an amazing guy like him.
I snorted and shook my head, "You're impossible."
"Me? You instead!" He grinned and ran both hands through his hair, making me die to touch my own hair but I couldn't. "What are you doing after the show?"
I smirked at the gesture as I parted my lips to answer, "Picking up Gabe. Cami has plans."
"You mean she has a date?" He grinned. "Is she staying to watch you work the runway at least?"
"I don't know and probably not." I answered flatly, my mood swinging once again. After all maybe he was right when he said I got grumpy anytime Cami was brought into any conversation. I smiled at him, wanting to prove him wrong even if he wasn't. "I'm getting a whole extra day with Gabe."
He raised one eyebrow, probably noticing what I was doing but not saying anything about it anyway. "Poor kid, he'll have you in a mood just because Cami's with another man." He went on teasing me, showing no mercy.
"I'm always happy when I'm with him." I retorted as I tried to ignore him, my eyes narrowing on him almost automatically. I was just a man and he was just an a.ss.
"That I can believe, but-"
"Do you have plans?" I cut him off and smirked before he could finish his sentence.
"Rude." He raised one eyebrow at me, "But no."
I glanced at the woman popping out from behind a black curtain, her eyes on me and the nod of her head enough for me to know that it was my turn to go. I got up and looked at Tristan, guessing that being in his company could really help me stop thinking about Cami with that Dante joke, even though I didn't even know if she was with him. "You do now. I'll take my favorite boys out."
"Just don't be upset at the end of the night when I don't put out," He grinned wide, a few women passing by and glancing our way. We were both serious most of the time so when we joked around in public? Some people just didn't know how too react. I think its why we did it so often.... well that and we were obviously experiencing the I held a hand to my heart as I walked away from him regretfully, "One of these days, Williams."
"And I'm not a cheap date," He added with a wink, grinning wider as I let out a laugh.
"Don't I know it."
