[FLASHBACK]
I drank as much Jack Daniels’ before I needed a breath. I set the bottle down and turned my attention towards the line on the table in front of me. I took a straw and snorted the white powder before closing my eyes and leaning back against the couch feeling the high.
“You’re about to go on and you’re high as hell?” I heard a familiar voice and opened my eyes to see my father standing there giving me a disapproving look.
“It’s just a little party favor.” I grinned, “I’ll be fine.”
“Aiden, you can’t go up there-“
“I can and I will.” I glared at him.
He sighed, “What did that woman do to you?”
I glared, “She didn’t do anything… other than leave me.” I sighed.
“I’m going to tell them you can’t do this.” He said turning around.
“NO!” I yelled, “I said I’m f.ucking fine!” I stood up and grabbed my jacket and threw it over my shoulders.
“This is a mistake Aiden. You need to sleep this off and you need to check into rehab. I can’t see my youngest son like this.” He told me.
I narrowed my eyes at him, “I’m sorry I’m not f.ucking perfect.”
“You know that’s not what I meant. After all you’ve gone through… you deserve to have some unresolved feelings, but this is not what your mother would have wanted for me.”
“Don’t bring her up.” I said coldly, not wanting to think about her right now.
“Aiden… you have a problem and you need help.” He sighed, “Please, not for me, or your family, but for yourself. Bea asks me what’s wrong with you and why can’t she see you.”
I swallowed, “That’s because her mother’s a b.itch.”
“B.itch or not, she is Bea’s mother and I cannot go against her wishes when she doesn’t want you to see Bea.”
“I have show to play.” I said, ignoring his previous statement.
“Aiden, please.” He stopped me, “Please get help. Please don’t go on stage.”
“I said I’ll be fine. I’ve been on stage high before.” I glared.
He shook his head, “Aiden, you look on the verge of death.”
“I’ve got this. There’s too many fans out there to just leave.”
“Your fans will understand.” He said.
“I said I’ll be fine.” I said pushing him out of the way and headed towards the stage.
-----
"So how's everyone doing tonight?" I yelled out to the crowd as my vision started to blur. In response I heard thousands of screams from thousands of people. I was at the height of my career and it was the lowest of my life… I got dumped and had been during to liquor and coke now… I was high at the moment and I would have backed out if this wasn't the biggest show of my career.
I took a deep breath, "I can't f.ucking hear you!!" More screams emitted from the crowd.
The amazing thing is that I made it this far into my set without passing out, throwing up, completely breaking down or all three…
I had been drowning emotionally speaking at least, especially since Lillian left me and completely broke me.
I walked over to the stool on the stage and took a seat and I breathed, "So you guys follow my life? Right?" I asked the crowed rhetorically because I knew what the answer was going to be, "And you know that someone I thought I loved, left me." I groaned out as the crowed awed at me, "Well, my life has been pretty much sh.it since that happened." I shrugged as I tried to gather my thoughts. None of the lyrics to my songs were coming to mind, so I had to bullsh.it it.
“I’ve been insanely f.ucked up since this has happened…” I sighed, "I mean, the b.itch chose modeling over me. Is that an insult or what?" I let out a sarcastic laugh.
I continued my monologue, as I saw my drummer come up to me and tried to help me, "Come on man." He said quietly in to my ear, "Let's go backstage."
"I'm fine." I told him with a glare.
"You're not. Let's go." He grabbed my arm to pull me, but I was quick to react and my fist connected with his cheek and he went down. I swallowed as I thought about what had just happened and the fact that it was an accident; I didn't want to him.
I knew my mistake immediately as he got up. He was a big guy; much bigger than me, so it wasn't too much of a surprise when he punched me hard in the face, that I was completely knocked out.
When I came to, I wasn't on stage anymore. I was in the back with a medic hovering above me and I had an IV in my arm, "What the f.uck?" I groaned out confused.
"Aiden, do you know where you are?" He asked me.
I closed my eyes and licked my lips and the distinctive metallic taste of blood was prominant, "Backstage."
"I'm going to need you to open your eyes and stay awake Aiden. If you're concussed we have to keep you up." The medic repeated.
"Okay, I'm up." I opened my eyes to stare at the people in my view. I noticed my father sitting with a stoic look on his face. I'm sure he just kept thinking 'I told you so.'
"So what happened?" I asked and nobody spoke up... except my father.
"You fucking punched your drummer and just ruined your professional reputation in front of millions, you stupid twat." He practically yelled, "Not to mention you seized a little on stage because of your coke and jack binge!"
"I fucking get it Dad."
He got up, leaning down to my level and grabbed the neck of my shirt, "I hope you're f.ucking happy. You're mother would be so f.ucking proud of you." He glared before standing up and leaving without another word.
Everybody was staring at me, "If anyone says a goddamn word, I'll fire you. Now someone get me a f.ucking cab so I can go to my hotel room."

[PRESENT]

I bit my lip as I could hear the screaming fans in the packed auditorium. I paced my dressing room a million times and I still couldn't seem to ease my stomach or my mind. I felt like I was going to throw up any minute which usually isn't the case. It was my first time performing since the show that almost ruined my career… And I was back in London, at the O2 Arena. It was supposed to be my 'comeback' but now I was starting to really doubt myself. I heard the door open and shut as I turned around to see Chloe there with a smile. She had been my rock through all of this… She encouraged me in the first place and if it wasn't for her I'd still be the mess I was before.
"Are you doing okay?" She asked, walking up to me with a worried look on her face.
I shrugged, "I feel like I'm going to puke…" I trailed off as I started biting on my nails.
She smiled as she pulled my hands away from my mouth and intertwined her hands with mine, "You're going to be great baby…"
"How do you know? The last time I was here I was high on coke and drunk… I made a f.ucking fool of myself in front of thousands of people which was then broadcasted to a million other people…" I swallowed.
"You've been writing new music. You've been making your new album and it's been going great… Why can't you perform?" She gave me a warm smile.
"It's different in a studio than in front of a crowd…" I trailed off.
She grinned widely, "I never thought I would hear Aiden McCartney say he was nervous." She leaned up and kissed me on the lips, "I promise you, you're going to be fine… And your Dad and the rest of your family is here to support you…"
I felt a little more relaxed with Chloe in my arms, but I still felt the urge to vomit, "Thank you…" I told her.
“Anytime baby.” She grinned at me as she set her forehead against mine, “If anything, that whole thing made you look like a total bada.ss… Didn’t you punch your drummer?”
I cringed at the thought of it and shrugged my shoulder, not wanting to think about that… “I don’t know what I’d do without you.” I replied, pulling my head back to kiss her forehead.
“You’d be very lonely at night.” She winked at me.
“Well, I don’t know about that…” I trailed off with a small smirk.
She let out a small laugh, “Hey, I’d watch what you say! Your words might prevent you from getting laid tonight.” She with a serious face.
I tightened my arms around her waist and dipped my nose into her neck, pressing soft kisses against her skin, “You know that you’re the only one for me.” I whispered.
“You’re pretty smooth sometimes, McCartney.” She tangled her fingers in my hair and guided my head towards hers to press a hard kiss against my lips.
“Are we interrupting something?” I heard my father’s voice come from the doorway as I pulled away from Chloe.
“No, we’re good. Come on in.” I told him with a small smile as a little body ran past him and jumped into my arms.
“How are you doing?” I asked Bea.
She nodded, “Good, just waiting to see you sing.” She said happily.
“Are you excited?” I asked her as she nodded quickly. “I’m glad you’re here.” I told her, kissing her temple.
She wriggled out of my arms and went over to give Chloe a hug
“How are you cutie?” Chloe asked her as she picked her up.
“I’m good! Are you excited to see Aiden sing?”
Chloe nodded, “Yes very much so.”
“I would rather see you sing though Chloe.” Bea grinned, “You need to sing tonight..”
“I don’t sing anymore cutie.” Chloe raised a brow.
“But your voice is so beautiful…” Bea trailed off and I had to agree with her. I asked her to come up on stage tonight and sing a duet with me but she declined. I respected her enough to not push the subject, but I still wanted to sing with her.
“Thank you Bea. Maybe at another time.” Chloe tried to tell her.
I knew that Chloe missed singing, even though she tried to act like it didn’t affect her.
“It’s time Aiden.” I heard one of the venue managers.
“Alright, I’ll see you guys on the other side.” I grinned giving Bea a kiss on the forehead and then turned towards Chloe and pulled her into a deep kiss. “I’ll see you after the show.”
“You’re going to do amazing.” She winked at me.
“Thanks.” I said as I headed towards the stage, grabbing my guitar and taking a deep breath to try and calm myself down before I started to have a panic attack. I just had to take the plunge. I could hear the chanting get louder and I finally just thought ‘f.uck it.’ and it was time to just do it.
I took one last breath and walked out onto the large stage and I was greeted by lights and thousands of screaming fans.
My eyes and ears adjusted to the stimuli as I took another deep breath. It had been so long since I had perform I was unsure of myself which was definitely rare. I was usually a c.ocky son of a b.itch. I knew I was a great performer, but I wasn’t feeling like it anymore.
“How are you doing tonight London?!” I screamed out into the microphone and millions of fans screamed back at me.
I grinned, “Me too! Thank you all for coming out tonight!!!” I screamed back out as I heard the chords to the first song played over the speakers. It felt like the old me; It was like no time had passed between my last great performance and now.
I felt like before, except without all that emotionally shit… I was happy for once and I knew it was all because that woman back there who had my heart. She was my world…
I took a break and grabbed one of the stools near the side of the stage and took a seat, “God, you guys are amazing.” I grinned as everybody yelled back, “You know it’s been years since I’ve been here and the last time I was here, didn’t go so well…” I swallowed, “I was in a bad place then as I’m sure you all know…”
I took a deep breath to gather my thoughts, “Honestly, the only reason I made it out alive during that time was someone who is so damn special to me, a song doesn’t do justice for her.” The crowed awed at me as I continued, “She is kindest, most patient woman I have ever met… and not to mention she’s insanely gorgeous.” I grinned out as everyone hollered.
“Now, what I really wanted to happened tonight was for her to come up here and sing a song with me, but she fought me tooth and nail to make sure that didn’t happen.” I grinned, “So do you think she can resist the millions of you? How about we make her come out here tonight? Chloe?!” I laughed as the entire stadium started chanting her name while I walked backstage to find Chloe standing there with a shocked look on her face.
“Aiden.” She said stubbornly.
I grinned grabbing her hand, “You can’t ignore all those people who want to see you. C’mon.”
“I didn’t want this!” She pouted.
“For me beautiful?” I asked once more as she started to think.
“Go Chloe!!” Bea’s little voice interrupted her as she started to push the two of us away and back on stage.
She sighed as I grabbed her hand and pulled her onto the stage and everybody clapped, “See, isn’t she beautiful everyone?” I said with a smile as I brought her a stool to sit next to me.
“I think someones trying to get laid tonight.” She joked with a grin as she sat down and reached for my hand, intertwining it with mine.
“Hey, let’s keep this PG.” I told her, squeezing her hand, “We have a certain guest back there who will be questioning me later on what getting laid means.” I grinned, nodding my head towards where Bea was standing. She gave the two of us a big smile and waved excitedly like she hadn’t heard a word.
“Oops.” She wrinkled her nose, biting down on her bottom lip, killing me slowly, “So did you pull me up here to embarrass me or…?” She trailed off.
The crowd laughed and I shook my head, “She’s always trying to get down to business.”
“So there is a reason.” She quirked an eyebrow.
I swallowed before asking, “Would you do me the honor of singing with me tonight?”
Everybody in the crowd was encouraging but I could tell in her eyes that this isn’t what she wanted. She shook her head, “Nice try, but all of these people cam here for you tonight… not me.” She smiled, trying to get me with flattery.
“And?” I asked with a smirk.
“And we don’t have a song planned.” She continued.
I dropped her hand and walked back over to the roadie who handed me my guitar and I started strumming the first chords of our song that I wrote for her. I could see her start to blush.
“Definitely getting laid tonight…” She trailed off.
“Is that a yes?” I raised a brow at her.
“No, but go on.” She motioned for me to continue.
So stubborn. I thought to myself as I grinned and started singing the opening verse. This was my favorite song that I had ever written; it was all about Chloe and just like her it was perfect.
I took a pause to play some chords and smiled at her, "Are you sure?"
She have me a small smile and crossed her arms over her chest, "Nope."
I sighed dramatically and continued with the second verse, "I am in love with a stubborn woman people!" I said in the middle of the lyrics.
Chloe laughed, “You wouldn’t love me if I wasn’t.” She winked.
“She is right, ladies and gentleman.” I grinned and nodded as I walked back over to my roadie and handed him back the guitar and I just sang…
I looked back at her and suddenly, everything felt right… it was the perfect moment and I knew the perfect way to make it even better.
I turned back towards Chloe, “If you’re not comfortable with singing I won’t make you…” I trailed off, “But I have another question to ask you.”
She nodded, “Yes?”
I took a deep breath and suddenly I was down on one knee and I heard a thousand gasps ring out, including Chloe’s, “Oh my god.” She said with wide eyes.
“I have thought about how to do this for months now. Pretty much driving myself insane over it… Now it’s so easy… Chloe Clapton, will you marry me?"
“Yes,” She said quickly, smiling and nodding her head. “Yes!!” She yelled.
I grinned back at her, “Really?” I asked once more to make sure.
She responded by throwing herself into my arms, knocking the two of us on to the ground while the crowd started laughing, “Well, if I knew it’d be that easy, I would have done it sooner…”
“Where’s my ring?” She asked in a whisper, but the microphone caught it and announced it to everyone, making them laugh.
I laughed and shook my head, opening the box I had in my hands, “It was my mom’s ring… I had the diamond changed, but-“
She gasped at the ring and held a hand over her mouth as I took the left on to slip it on to her ring finger. It was an important thing to me that she liked it. I improved on it, but I still felt it was my mother’s ring.
“It’s gorgeous.” She replied with tears in her eyes as she stared at it.
“You sure? I mean we can go look at others if this isn’t your perfect idea of a ring.” I told her and she quickly shook her head.
“No! This is perfect Aiden!!” She interjected and then planted a deep kiss on me, “Seriously. I can’t stop staring at it!” She gave a cute grin, making me laugh.
“Thank god you said yes.” I grinned at her, talking into the microphone, “Otherwise I’d be embarrassed in front of thousands and standing here like a dumba.ss.” I said, making the crowd laugh.
She smirked, “Are you kidding? With that proposal and that ring, I’d be an idiot to say no.”
“You never know.” I smirked as we continued the conversation.
Chloe smirked, “Well there was no other answer… By the way, we’re going to need a security team on us as we leave… A lot of girls over the world have just had their heartbroken.” She joked with me.
I laughed, “Well, how about another song instead?” I asked the crowd as they all shouted, “Will you sing this one with me?” I smirked at Chloe, trying once more for good measure.
“Nice try. I think the crowd has had enough of me for the night.” She winked, “They deserve more of you, since you’re the reason they paid.” She laughed.
“Fine. I asked you to marry me and still stubborn.” I rolled my eyes as she took a seat in the stool and I sat down and grabbed my guitar to finish the set off.
I saw Chloe out the corner of my eye with the biggest grin on her face as she mouthed the words to the song I was singing. Finally I finished the last song and we both stood up and took her hand, walking off stage.
I pressed a kiss against her lips, “I have to go back for the encore. Are you alright back here?” I asked, out of breath.
“Of course.” She smiled, “I love you.”
“I love you.” I told her before rushing out back on stage to perform one last song to please the crowd before giving my goodbyes and thank you’s.
I walked backstage and heard Bea, “We need to go shopping for your princess gown!!” She exclaimed.
I wrapped my arm around Chloe and nuzzled her neck, “A princess gown, huh? You’re lucky anything would look good on you.”
She tilted her head to the side and kissed me chastely, “You’re done already?”
I nodded, “I’m done.”
“Now what?” She asked.
“Whatever you want.” I told her as she grinned at me.
“Let’s go to dinner!!!” Bea exclaimed, “So Chloe and I can talk about what I’m going to be wearing for the wedding.”
“Bea, we just got engaged maybe 20 minutes ago.” I told her with a smirk.
“And my dress is the most important.” She said, “DUH!” Like it was common knowledge.
I sighed as I rolled my eyes, “Congratulations!” I heard a deep voice as I turned around to see my father strolling in with Nancy by his side. He pulled me into a hug and whispered into my ear, “You did good son.” He patted my back.
I nodded, pulling away, “Thanks Dad.”
“Let me see the ring.” Nancy smiled, walking over to Chloe as she examined the band, “This is absolutely gorgeous! You definitely have a keeper.” She winked at her.
Chloe laughed as she walked into my arms, “I really do.”
I kissed her temple, “I am starving.” I said honestly as I grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat off my face.
“Well, you’re the man of the night, choose and we’ll go somewhere.” Chloe grinned at me.
“Chinese!” Bea exclaimed before I could say anything.
I smirked, “That sounds good… Let me go get changed and then we can go.” I told everyone as I pulled Chloe by her hand towards my dressing room. Suddenly she had me pinned up against the wall as her tongue fought with mine for dominance.
She groaned, “God, I’ve been wanting to do that ALL night.”
I smirked, “Oh yeah?”
She kissed down my neck, making me moan, “Yes.” She breathed out. I can’t wait to get home tonight and show you my complete appreciation for everything.” She gave me a wicked grin.
I groaned, “If I don’t change right now, they’re going to think something is up…” I trailed off.
She sighed, pushing herself away from me, “I guess you’re right.”

I nodded regretfully as I peeled off my wet shirt and changed into a fresh one before spraying some cologne, hopefully masking the sweat smell, “Alright, let’s go out.” I grabbed her hand as we walked towards my family.
