I said ooh girl, shock me like an electric eel. by pinklipstiiick featuring snap back caps
“Now that’s an answer," She nodded, giving me a genuine smile before sipping the last of her latte.
“I tried," I smirked and crossed my arms over my chest.
“So are you afraid of love or just find it beneath you?” She teased, leaning in and giving me a more playful look.
“Beneath me?!” I laughed and shook my head. “I don’t have time for a girlfriend.”
Chloe rolled her eyes, “Well that’s just bullshit.” Glancing down at her empty cup, she pouted, “If you have time for dates and sex you have time for a girlfriend.”
“Most women are looking for a little more than that," I pointed out.
“I’d say I'm just as busy as you and I still found time for a relationship.”
I rose a brow at her slowly, “And how did that turn out?”
“Touche," She nodded with a sigh. “But that didn’t end because we didn’t spend enough time together.”
“Oh? So then why did it end?”
She blinked at me and seemed to contemplate my question, “I was both terrified of losing him, and terrified of how strong his feelings were for me.”
I walked past a downtown bakery, noticing a flash of blonde hair and recognizing the culprit instantly. Stopping in front of Chloe Lindsell, I watched as she stared daggers at the chocolate croissant on her plate, looking lost in her thoughts. “What did that croissant ever do to you?”
She looked up at me and her expression changed slightly, almost as if she was caught off guard, “What?”
I motioned toward her food, "You’re looking at it like you want to murder it.” I smirked and she smiled along with me, my grin sometimes having that effect on women.
“I'm wallowing in self misery. You can join me you might enjoy it," She gave me a weaker smile and I sighed, taking the seat across from her.
“I don’t hate you Chloe," I replied, knowing that was what she was hinting at.
“You just don’t like me. Or have any desire to," She pointed out.
I shrugged, “It’s not personal....what are you wallowing about?”
She licked her lips, “Bad breakup, missing my friends, about to down my 3rd croissant in the last hour….normal silly girl stuff.”
"If that's normal? I'm thankful I'm not a girl," I said both seriously and trying to lighten the moment. We weren't friends, but she also didn't deserve to have every bad case scenario hit her at once. Life wasn't easy, I knew that one first hand.
"Yeah, you really dodged a bullet there," She winked at me, seeming like more of her normal self by the second.
I chuckled and nodded my head, "I'm sorry about that by the way."
She lifted a brow and leaned into the table, "About being a man? Or...?"
"For the bad breakup, missing your friends, and what did you say this was? Your fifth croissant?"
"Third actually..." She trailed off with a grin. "If two more croissants appear in front of me? Please intercept it from me. I'm going to need to hit the gym extra hard now because of these delicious little bastards."
I laughed again, this time harder, "Please. You could indulge every now and then... and there are much worse things to eat than a pastry."
"Oh? And what's your weakness Mr. Williams?"
"A hot fudge sundae, extra whipped cream with a cherry on top," I answered with a smile.
She licked her lips slowly, the move hotter than it should be. “That sounds really fucking good," She admitted, tilting her head to the side. “But oddly American.”
I laughed, “Well maybe they get a few things right every now and then.” She smiled at me, setting both elbows on the table and her head in her hands as she watched me with an unreadable expression on her pretty face. “What?” I asked, raising a brow at her when the silence between us became almost awkward.
“What what?” She replied, mimicking my look.
“You’re giving me that look.”
“What look?!”
I narrowed my eyes on her and shook my head, not wanting to get into it. “Nevermind,” I replied as Chloe sat straight back on her chair.
“No what did you mean?!”
I shrugged, “You have this look in your eyes you get right before…..” I sighed, probably sounding like a complete idiot. Mostly if I was wrong on this. “Right before you try to hit on me or something.”
She widened her eyes, “Really? What does this look look like?” I shrugged, not wanting to answer. “No I should know this!” She added, trying to keep a straight face. “If I'm unknowingly about to try and hit on men totally out of my league I should know before it happens. Can you hang around with me and give me a sign when the look comes up?”
“I didn’t mean that-“ I started, feeling a little guilty when a grin swept across Chloe's face. “You’re fucking with me.”
“No that was me “trying” to hit on you," She grinned wider and took a sip of her coffee.
“There was a look though," I grinned back, shaking my head.
“I’ve already pulled out all my best moves with you Tristan, if those didn’t work? A look never would.”
I smirked wider and parted my lips as a petite brunette appeared and smiled at me, "Is there anything I could get you?"
I flicked my eyes over to Chloe questioningly who shook her head then I looked back at the girl, "Another croissant and coffee. Black."
Chloe sighed as the waitress walked away and when I looked over at her she was shaking her head, "Did you notice that look too? Or am I just the exception?"
"What look?" I grinned, interested in where this was going. Plus when the focus wasn't on the two of us? It made conversation a little easier.
She rolled her eyes but still had a gorgeous smile on her face, "The waitress was staring at you the entire time. I've been here for an hour and I haven't even had service like that."
I widened my eyes instantly, "An hour? I hope I'm not keeping you."
"I have no where to be," She replied and bit into her lip as she leaned back into the table, my eyes glancing down at her breasts for not more than a couple of seconds. "What about you Mr. Williams?"
"What about me?" I asked, somewhat distracted by the way the top few buttons on her top were undone. I was only a man after all.
"Why aren't you busy at work or with one of your three girlfriends?" She asked then blushed slightly, "Or are you down to two now because of me and my big mouth?"
"The whole thing with Brigitte wasn't your fault," I answered without really answering the question.
"And...?" She trailed off, a smirk in her tone.
"And I have the day off," I shrugged, still avoiding the question.
She sighed and leaned back in her chair again, even rolling her eyes once more, "I meant where are the other two?"
"One's probably busy with med school and the other is currently in London," I told her finally.
“Ah," She nodded. “And of course your boyfriend is unavailable as well.”
I gave her a smile, “Exactly.”
She laughed and then sighed, “Yeah I miss him too.”
“If only he was a woman maybe I could finally settle down," I joked back, getting yet another laugh from Chloe.
She leaned in with a more serious expression on her face before grinning wider, “You know I hear he has a hot sister.”
I let out a laugh, “Hot? Maybe, but not really my type.”
She made another point of sighing, "You had three different completely opposite women, how do you know you even have a type?”
“Your ex doesn’t look anything like me. I'm not your type," I pointed out, really quite talented at avoiding and deflecting.
“Jackson wasn’t my type actually. You fit the bill pretty perfect. Tall dark and kind of an asshole," She winked at me. “Hopeless though. Hopeless usually isn’t my type so you’ve got me there.”
“Hopeless?!” I grinned as she nodded.
“Yup," She popped the p, taking a sip of her coffee and then licking her lips. “Have you ever had a girlfriend? Like a real one? Ever gotten your heart broken?”
“Those are two different questions Chloe,” I replied, mostly because I didn't want to have this conversation.
She swallowed, “Okay so answer them separately.” She grinned, biting down on her lip as she waited for a response.
"I've dated girls, yes," I answered, well, kind of.
She sighed and kept her blue eyes on me, staring at me so intensely I was afraid she'd be able to read me completely. "Very generic," She said after a moment and I laughed.
"What?"
"Your answer!" She shook her head, "Of course you have dated girls. Who doesn't know that? You show up to events with a new girl on your arm."
"So you think I'm a manwhore," I deflected with a grin.
"No, but I'm curious why you're the way you are."
I quirked a brow at that, curious how she saw me, "How am I?"
"Frustrating," She said bluntly. "I'm not going to stop bugging you until you give me a real answer."
I sighed, feeling conquered by the tiny blonde. "I've never had my heartbroken," I said finally. "Never let anyone get close enough to hurt me."

“Oh? So then why did it end?”
She blinked at me and seemed to contemplate my question, “I was both terrified of losing him, and terrified of how strong his feelings were for me.”
"I don't understand..." I trailed off, positive that this was exactly why I avoided serious relationships with women. They never made any damn sense.
She blinked again, giving me a doe eyed look that fit her looks perfectly but not her personality. "Which part don't you understand?" She lifted a brow before tilting her head to a side and causing her long blonde hair to fall over her shoulder.
"If you didn't feel the same way about him, then why would you want to string the poor guy around?" I asked, wondering why girls always felt the need to lead men on like that. Being alone wasn't really that bad... if anything, the independence of it all was invigorating. Love held people back, made them settle on a life they'd never actually choose for themselves.
And that was exactly why I was single... My outlook on love was awful.
She shook her head quickly, "I wasn't stringing him around. That sounds terrible."
"Did you ever love him?" I asked pointblank, having heard that they had a history together.
She licked her lips and ran a hand through her hair, “I have a very high standard for love. I’ve seen what real true love looks like. Yes. I loved him," She nodded. “But I wasn’t in love with him.”
“Sounds like you’re splitting hairs to me," I shrugged.
“Says the man who doesn’t believe in love," She teased back.
“Oh no I believe in it. I just think it fucks with people too much to be worth it.”
She laughed at my honestly and nodded slowly, “Well seeing as how I don’t think I’ve ever truly had it? I can’t argue with you. Though Cami and Ben always seem to think it was worth it and look at all the shit they went through. Hell they’re still going through.”
“Well I guess there are exceptions to every rule," I conceded.
“We’re just not one of them right?” She caught her tongue between her teeth and shot me a sexy look.
I smirked and leaned forward, “You just said we as if you and I were a couple. You do realize that.”
“Don’t be ridiculous," She shook her head but let her grin match mine. “I’ve gotta get going. She set some money on the table and picked up her bag, watching as I stood up with her, “Thanks for the company.”
I nodded and bit back a smirk, “Thanks for the life lesson on love.”
“Smartass,” She grinned after rolling her eyes, but then looked back at me again with one of those unreadable expressions. Next thing I knew, she was pulling on my shirt to move me closer and pressing her soft lips against mine. I did nothing at first, too shocked to even comprehend what was happening. Finally I relaxed, slowly starting to kiss back at the exact second she pulled away.
“Chloe….” I blinked at her, speechless for the first time in my life.
She forced a fake smile as if shaking it off as nothing. It wasn't nothing though. “Sorry," She shook her head. “I haven’t been feeling like myself, I thought doing something kind of slutty might bring Chloe back.”
“Sounds like you’re splitting hairs to me," I shrugged.
“Says the man who doesn’t believe in love," She teased back.
