hey i won't change direction, and i won't change my mind

hey i won't change direction, and i won't change my mind

hey i won't change direction, and i won't change my mind by sassy

“Lila.” I said quietly as I stepped at the doorway of her office, maybe a little too quietly. “Lila.”
“Travis?” She blinked up at me, looking as if I had just woke her up from a dream and she couldn't believe her eyes.
“Your proposal for the app designs is a little hasty.” I said flatly, not bothering to look at her but glancing around the room instead.
She ran her tongue over her lips. “Hasty?”
“The new update was just launched, I don’t think we need to spend the hours and money to redesign things quite yet.”
“Yeah because Apple hates being ahead of the curve.” She replied just as coolly.
I ignored her words completely, she could be good at art and design s.hit but money and investment decisions? That was my world. "No one sane of mind would launch a new design so close to the last one." I pointed out as I stared at her.
"Well apparently my boss is insane because he didn't think it was such a bad idea." She retorted with that feisty attitude of hers, crossing her arms against her chest defensively and giving me a hard time not imagining her naked on top of me which was where she had been less than 12 hours before.
It had been great, epic even, but I had already made an exception and now we were working so all I would be was professional. "So if he thinks is so great why did he send you to me?" I asked back, my face one hundred percent serious even if I knew I was being a smartass.
"You know that already, because I can't do anything without money. And if you don't say yes I won't get any." She retorted and shifted against her chair, looking both nervous and annoyed and also something else I couldn't bother to get.
"Come back to me in a few months and you'll get your yes Lila." I said slowly as I looked into her eyes, my tone final since I meant business. Literally. I turned around and left her office, set on go back to mine where I had a s.hit ton of phone calls to make to forecasters. God I hated Mondays.
"Travis." Lila's firm voice came from behind me as she caught up with me and I couldn't help but groan quietly. This wouldn't end well, it couldn't. Fuck me for sleeping with someone I worked with.
I shot her a side glance, "I'm not going to change my mind."
"I wasn't done talking." She said stubbornly and part of me was impressed that she was so determined, while the other hated how she was making me lose my time.
"I hope you will be by the time I'll get to my office." I retorted flatly as I walked down the hallway, running a hand through my hair.
She kept quiet for a bunch of seconds, as if she was taken aback. "Whatever you like it or not you'll have to give me a reason why my idea is bad. A written one. And you can't do that if you don't let me explain everything." She said eventually.
I opened the door of my office and groaned, this time more loudly. Wasn't there someone else who could do that? I was already full of work. Even though I had to admit that the view of Lila in her tight dress was a nice one. "You better have great communication skills because I'm not giving you much time." I said eventually, watching her ass as she stepped inside my office.
“You didn’t even ask to see my mock up designs.” Lila pointed out, her hands on her hips.
“It wouldn’t matter.” I retorted. “I really have work to get done.”
“Oh you really do? Because I instead just sit in my office playing video games.” She said back.
“You shouldn’t do that, HR tracks the sites you go to on your computer.” I pointed out seriously, mostly to tease her. I had already seen how easily her temper flared, this was some kind of test to see if she could handle her mood better when working.
She slammed my door shut and glared at me. Test failed. “I know it’s probably hard for you to spend time around women when they’re not on their knees but if you don’t treat me like an equal and actually follow the protocol required for this type of request then I will file a complaint about you.” She said seriously, walking closer to me and being a feisty little thing.
“A complaint?” I let my mouth twitch upwards because I'd never let her have anything to complain about. Also I highly doubted she'd ever fail anything against me.
She pointed towards the couch in my office as I took out her ipad. “Sit your ass down and look at my mockups before you decide I'm too “hasty”” She ordered.
I blinked at her for a second, momentarily taken aback. “You have five minutes.” I said eventually.
“I have however long it takes.” She said, playing a dangerous game as she purposefully sat down so close our legs were touching, flipping through pictures of new designs, focusing on her ideas for the stock market app. I had to give her credit, she knew what she was talking about, only I wasn't going to admit that.
“….It’s not bad.”
“Not only is it not bad, but it’s not costly.” She replied, flipping though the stats. “In fact the only thing that would be costing extra would be my 15% raise.” She added.
“A raise?”
“Yeah. It’s what happens when someone kicks ass at their job.” She said oh so seriously, pulling her hair to the side and exposing the marks I’d left on her neck the night before. “I kick ass at pretty much everything I set my mind on….but you know that first hand right Trav?” She added, licking her lips slowly as an afterthought.
I kept my eyes on hers, refusing to look at her lips. Temptation was a bitch but I had excellent self control. Sometimes. "I don't, we never worked together before." I said simply, ignoring her hint at what I knew instead.
"I wasn't talking about work." She said back and crossed her legs, making it inch up her creamy thighs.
I noticed, but once again, I ignored the sexy move, grateful that her eyes were so gorgeous too look at anyway. "I only talk about work here Lila." I clarified in a serious tone, knowing that this could be the only way I'd survive. Give a girl a finger, she'd get your hand, give her your d.ick and she'd demand all the rest. Now, I didn't regret for even a second sleeping with her, only now I had to get through that amount of time where she'd have to get that she wouldn't get nothing else from me instead and since Lila and I spent most of our days in the same building it could get hard to handle. Complicated even, exactly what I always wanted to avoid.
She licked her lips once again then bit it, only this time it seemed as if it was a natural genuine motion. "Me too. I'm trying to convince you here." She said quietly, the tone of her voice calm and surprising me. Was that the calm before the storm? I had no idea, I barely knew her.
I processed her words as I nodded my head, breaking eye contact and turning my head to stare outside the window while I thought about her project. I was torn, because my instinct said it wasn't a good idea, still a tiny voice in my head said that it was a big risk that could lead to great profits. "I need more details about your project if you want to have a chance." I said eventually and looked back at her.
She deflated against the couch, one million emotions crossing her beautiful face without me being able to understand one. "I already showed you all I had." She sighed, flipping her hair back with one hand and closing her eyes for a moment.
I didn't know if she was doing that because I was frustrating her, or because of god knew why. I didn't even care. But my marks looked really good on her and, this time, I couldn't help glancing at her neck. "You can give up if it stresses you too much." I added once my eyes found hers again, more to challenge her than anything because from the little I knew about her I was sure that giving up was not even in her dictionary.
"No, it's that I had a long night." She groaned and rolled her eyes, this time clearly annoyed.
"Long weekend." I commented shortly before I got up and reached for the phone on my desk, dialing my secretary's line. "Two coffees."
“With-“
“Extra espresso” I added, eyeing her. I hadn't learned much about her during those three nights together, except for she was tight as fuck and loved caffeine a lot.
“What are we doing here?” She asked, narrowing her eyes on me once I hung up the phone.
“Having a meeting.” I replied with a tone of finality that she ignored. Bad move.
“Clearly not. You gave me five minutes I’ve already been here 20.”
I blinked before glancing at the clock. God, time went by so quickly. “I”
“Should get back to work. Fine.” She stood up just as my secretary was bringing in her coffee.
“Your 12 o-clock was cancelled Mr. Cole.” Steffi said softly.
I nodded and let her leave, handing her her cup while sipping mine and taking a mental note to put my 12 o-clock on my black list. Unless you were about to die, you didn't miss appointments. “It looks like I have some extra time after all.”
She swallowed a long sip of the hot liquid. “Was she the one?” She asked idly.
“The one?” I questioned, lifting a brow, absolutely clueless.
“Who went down on you in your office.” She added.
I quirked my brow further and then shook my head. “I don’t sleep with women I work with.” I said seriously, making her smirk pretty wide because I added. “Usually.” At the end.
“Because it’s complicated right?” She asked.
I nodded, since that was an understatement. “Yes.”
She walked up to my desk, leaning over it and giving me a damn good view down her dress. “Because she wants to hang out in your office and get’s clingy and weird.”
“Professional and personal shouldn’t mix.” I said simply, doing awesome at deflecting as usual. I glanced up at her, assuming that she would ask me why I made an exception with her, but hoping she wouldn't instead.
“Mmm….I disagree, something about the idea of just unzipping a man's pants while he’s still wearing a suit is so tempting…”
“You don’t have to be at work to do that.” I said after a few seconds of silence, just staring at her and trying not to picture that in my mind. Jesus Christ.
“No but where’s the fun without a little risk?” She asked softly with a small grin. “I’ll send you a full mock up tomorrow. Thanks for the coffee Trav.” She replied turning to leave.
I walked around my desk and took a seat, my eyes landing on her iPad which was still on the couch. "Lila." I said quietly, glancing at her and more specifically at her perfect ass.
She stopped in her tracks and turned around again, looking at me but not fast enough to catch me checking her out. "Yes?" She asked, her face straight but her lips slightly parted were telling me that she was holding her breath. I was bad at ready faces, but body language? That was my thing.
"Don't you think you're forgetting something?" I asked in a calm tone as I leaned my back against my leather chair, enjoying the view because despite everything she was still a gorgeous tiny thing to look at.
She raised one eyebrow as she glanced at my body, "What?" She asked back and a clueless expression crossed her beautiful face before she broke into a teasing smirk, her head tilting to a side. "I thought you said no mixing pleasure and business."
At that I forced myself not to laugh, even though I wanted to. But I couldn't act too friendly with her, I didn't want to lead her on or anything. "Your iPad." I said coolly and glanced at it.
"Oh." She frowned a little then she seemed to realize that she was actually frowning and went back to a serious expression. "Thanks."
"You're welcome." I nodded, leaving my eyes taking her in once against as she walked to the couch, grabbed the iPad, then headed back to the door. "Not so fast."
She stopped, again, and again shot me a confused look mixed with something else. It was as if she was thinking about something that was turning her eyes into that amazing liquid green, the same she had got many times during our weekend together. "What else Travis? You're not the only one who got to go back to work." She snapped.
"This." I set my jaw, not liking the tone of her voice. "Is work."
"I'm all ears." She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms against her chest.
"Sit." I said simply, watching her as she parted her mouth, looking as if she was about to argue. And that was something else I didn't like. "I said sit Lila." I repeated in a stern tone, cutting her off before she could even start.
She finally did as I said, slumping on the chair across from my desk. "Done." She said flatly.
I leaned my forearms against the flat surface and bored my eyes into hers. "I don't want a stupid mock up. I want everything ready as if I said yes already."
"Why? She blinked at me.
"Because I want to see how much you're committed to this project." I explained quietly, "It's a big risk for me, I can't afford making bad decisions. And it still doesn't mean I'll say yes anyway."
And then, she laughed. Out of nowhere. God girls were crazy.
“What is funny?” I asked seriously, looking confused as she continued to chuckle.
“Are all you finance guys so overdramatic?” She turned serious again. “Even if you okay the project and I decide to quit my job tomorrow you haven’t lost the company anything. It’s not a big deal.”
“I take everything I do seriously.” I replied, struggling to find the right words.
She grinned wider and nodded inconspicuously. “Yes. I remember that.” She licked my lips. Again.
“Lila.” I started, ready to tell her to stop doing that since it was definitely annoying me. In a good way if possible, but still.
“Travis.” She interrupted. “I’ll get you everything you need.” I licked my lips again because suddenly my mouth went dry. “And I don’t want anything from you. Personally I mean.” She added.
“You don’t want anything from me?” I questioned since I had no idea of what the hell she was talking about.
“Yeah. Prepare yourself because this is going to be about us and not work and you’re just going to have to deal with it.”
I looked at her for a second and then gave a slight nod, because really, I had no other choice. “Alright.”
“You don’t have to worry about me. I don’t want to date you, or pretend like I was so different from every other girl that sleeping with me once would change your opinion on relationships-“
“It was far more than once.” I interjected in a deep voice, not able to stop myself from thinking about how impossibly tight she got when I made her come.
She took a deep breath and swallowed before continuing. “Either way. Besides being annoyingly attracted to you, there’s nothing that should keep us from going about life the same way we were before this weekend.” She finished.
I didn’t say anything for a moment, processing her words and realizing that in the end she was doing me a favor by saying the words I should have said. “Annoyingly?” I asked finally, leaning in closer.
“Yes. As in it is extremely difficult to not to picture you naked right now. Or just shut the blinds and have my way with you.” She replied. “But the thought is enough to hold me through the rest of the day.” She shrugged.
"Good." I said in monotone, not really interested in the conversation anymore. At least she thought she made everything clear and we could start making this a all-work thing. Was I happy to work with her? No. The longer we spent together the bigger the risk of turning it into personal, she could go on all day with words but I knew from experience that those didn't mean much to girls because they never were honest. I didn't mean it in a bad way, it wasn't like they did it on purpose, their problem was that they were never honest with themselves in the first place and lived in denial. Or in a dream. I could only hope she was smart enough to do none of those.
"Good?" She echoed me, raising one eyebrow with a funny expression on her face.
I shrugged, "Good for you, but don't let that thought distract you from your project." I said seriously.
Her eyes widened a little and for a solid minute I thought she was about to get up and slap me. Which would end really bad, probably with me holding her wrist while bending her on my desk. "I'm very professional Travis." She spoke eventually, glaring.
"I can't wait to find out." I smirked at her, a small part of me liking how easily I was able to get her all worked up. In more ways than one.
"Just tell me when you want everything and you'll have it the day before." She groaned.
"You like a good challenge, uh?" I kept smirking as I leaned into her from across the table, not giving her time to protest or argue. "Me too."
"I'll prove you wrong. This." She paused, setting her index finger on her iPad where she had showed me her work, "Is really good."
I shrugged nonchalantly, her words not affecting even a bit. "It'd be a first, I'm never wrong."
"Ha!" She laughed, then shook her head, "You didn't think I could keep up with you in bed."
"Are we back to personal? I was talking about work." I said back, this time it was my turn to raise my brow while I thought about her riding me but managed to keep a straight face. Damn she had been crazy, crazy good.
“Mmmm….that flashback your having?” Lila commented, pointing at my face which I was sure had remained the same...what was giving me away? “Hope it lasts you the rest of the day.” She winked and stood up, folding the case over her ipad as I glared at her.
‘You think you’re pretty smart don’t you?”
She grinned. “That’s not an opinion Travis, it’s a fact.”
“It doesn’t get you anywhere with me.”
She rose her brow. “I’ve already gotten everywhere I wanted to go with you.” She grinned, being a smartass and not realizing that it would come back biting her own ass. “So you’re wrong twice already.” She watched as a little smirk showed up on my face but then disappeared just as fast. “If you’re so annoyed with working with me you could always hand me off to another finance guy.”
“It would be an option if I thought they could handle you.” I replied, knowing I had a point because all the other guys were nerds who said yes to every female battering her lashes at them. And she was exceptionally gorgeous, so they really had no chance.
“Is this where I make a comment on how well you handle me instead?”
I grinned at her words. “If that’s what’s on your mind.”
She folded her arms over her chest and tilted her head to the side. “Maybe I won’t make this easy for you instead. It sounds more fun to me.”
“What do you mean?”
She just shrugged. “Nothing….your assistant makes good coffee.” She bent over to toss it away. “That tie does good things for you.” She added, out of nowhere and once again surprising me with her honesty, but not with her words. The effect I had on her was obvious.
“As does that dress for you.” I added, though I was looking at my computer by now.
She reached over and shut it before grinning at me. “It does doesn’t it? The trick is that I don’t wear underwear with it.” I groaned, frustrated. “Don’t start unless you’re willing to follow through Mr. Cole.”
I reached for her wrist to turn my laptop back on, that simple touch enough to bring back still fresh memories and I could tell it was like that for her too. I could see it into her eyes. "I'm always willing to follow through."
"Not always, not right now." She said more softly, her hand sliding against mine before she pulled it away.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I shook my head and let out a small sigh. It was hard acting unaffected when she was so damn hot. It wasn't like I had never hooked up with hot girls, but they had never got the chance to have me around much, plus Lila was definitely one of a kind. If we didn't work together I'd definitely consider to fuck her again, unfortunately I had already made an exception with her and I wasn't willing to make more. And, I had to remember to myself, she was really young.
She licked her lips then bit her tongue, catching it with her teeth. "You don't now? Weren't you old and wise?" She asked in a teasing tone and I swear she fucking read my mind.
"Wise? I don't know about that." I said back since I made no mystery of making mistakes, I was smart enough to know I wasn't perfect and I didn't want to be either.
She shrugged and shot me a coy smile. "Wise sounds boring anyway." She retorted, in that moment looking again so innocent and angelic, so far from the Lila I had known.
"How does tease sound like?" I raised one eyebrow at her as I kept a straight face.
She pretended to think about it, even tapping her index finger against her pink lips. I didn't know if she was doing that on purpose or not, but it was starting to...unsettle me. It had to end, now, before I could lose track of my focus on work. "You tell me." She said eventually.
I got up, walking around the desk and over her to escort her to the door, "I should, since you're all about teasing." I shook my head, dropping my hand on the small of her back. Big mistake, because now I wanted to touch that perfect a.ss of hers. "You better go now, you have a lot of working to do." I added as I pulled away, my voice 100% back to business.
“My work will have nothing to do with Apple.” Lila said under her breath.
“Sorry?”
“You’ve really never slept with anyone else here?” She asked slowly.
I gave her a look. “Really.” I answered honestly. I wasn't sure about the reason why I had slept with her instead, I guessed it had a lot to do with the fact that she was the hottest girl in the whole building and she had been able to take me aback with her boldness.
“Too bad, I’d like to talk to someone who’d been through this.” She said, motioning between the two of us.
“This?” I asked slowly.
“The awkward, will we or won’t we do it again game we’re playing.” She replied, taking one step closer. “And you can’t fool me into thinking you’re over it now that you’ve had me once because like you said…..it was way more than once.”
“It won’t happen again Lila.” I said though my usual serious tone was a little wavering as she set her hand against my chest.
“Mmmm….we’ll see.” She tilted her head to the side and licked her lips like a fucking tease. And then she walked away.
