Slipping into the dressing room, Cami closed the door behind her and walked quietly over to where I was standing, papers in my hands and a serious expression on my face. She leaned her body into mine and wrapped her arms around me, sliding one under the fabric of the robe and touching my chest while she pressed her lips against my earlobe, "I've heard that you have a thing for makeup artists."
I looked in the mirror to lock eyes with her, shaking my head, "I've moved on to gallery owners, but I still have a weak spot for makeup artists if they play their cards right."
She grinned back at me and set her chin on my shoulder, her eyes raking over my robe covered body. "I'm going to miss sneaking into your dressing room," She grinned wider while trying to make a serious face instead. "And oiling up your body.... I might miss that the most."
"Anything," She grinned, looking down at mychest then back up at me. "Why aren't you off work yet?"
I sighed, "I just finished. The shoot ran late and I'm supposed to meet with my parents in half an hour. They gave me a bunch of things to read over..."
She nodded her head. "Well, I just left your mom and she's in a great mood," She told me with a smile.
"Thank you." I said back, smirking at my fiancè as I ran my hands down her sides, stopping them on her hips.
She raised one eyebrow, her eyes dropping on my quirked lips for a moment, "Why? I did nothing."
I smirked wider as I pressed an innocent kiss on her lips before pulling my head back, "I'm sure she's in a good mood because of you." I pointed out.
"You were right, she's going crazy for the wedding." She said back and finally grinned with me, leaning further into me. Then she frowned a little, making me wonder if something had gone wrong. "But she somehow tricked me into not hiring a wedding planner."
At that, I laughed, not for the thing itself, but for how cute my future wife was. "Tricked you?" I asked, both curiosity and amusement in my tone.
"Yes." She answered seriously, "She has a way with words..."
I nodded, because I knew my mom well. She could convince anyone to do anything, no wonder why she was so good at running the agency. Me on the other side? Eh, I didn't know if I had that. "She's a wise woman and knows what she's talking about. And you'll have plenty of help, you don't have to worry baby."
"Will you help me too?" She asked, a small pout appearing on her lips.
I cupped her face as I smiled into her dark eyes, sealing my lips on hers once again since I couldn't resist. "I already told you I'm your slave. Snap your fingers and I'll do anything you want." I said back, both seriously and jokingly. I genuinely wanted to help, only I didn't know how, so the only way I could was if I had Cami's lead to follow.
Cami pursed her lips at my words, a small smirk working its way onto her face. "It sounds sexual when you say that..." She trailed off, not at all complaining. We had come to the conclusion that we were ready to try to conceive... but lately, Gabe wanted to be around us always. Sometime during the past week, he'd started having nightmares and insisted on sleeping between us. It put somewhat of a hitch in our sex life, but our little guys safety came first of course.
"Wedding planning, sexual favors," I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly with a fake serious expression. "Just snap your fingers."
She grinned wide and held a hand up, snapping her fingers before wrapping her arms back around me and leaning against me for another kiss; deeper, longer and much more passionate this time. Then her phone started beeping. With a sigh, she pouted again but checked the text she got. "Gabe told your sister that we ordered him a baby sister online and she'll be the flower girl at our wedding," She said while her eyes still scanned the text, a smile playing on her lips because he was so adorable.
I lifted her chin with one finger, meeting her gorgeous eyes again. "I don't think we'll get her delivered in time for the wedding." I said as I smirked.
She wrinkled her nose as she let me kiss her one last time. "I wish we could really order our baby online and I could skip the pregnancy." She sighed before she gave her attention back to the screen of her phone, typing on it.
"If only." I shot her an amused look before I slipped out of my robe, starting to slowly get dressed again while my thoughts drifted back to the meeting I was going to have with my parents. I wasn't really sure what it would be about, but I was nervous because of course it would be about work.
"Why are you getting dressed, I like you half naked better." She pouted once again, walking to where I was to reach for my shirt before starting buttoning it slowly.
"Because I don't think my parents would approve." I said back, working on the zipper of my trousers, the tone of my voice giving me away.
"Are you nervous baby?" She asked more seriously yet softly, buttoning the last button as she looked into my eyes.
I nodded, having no reason to hold back with my fiancè. "Would you come with me?"
"Of course I will," Cami smiled back and cupped my cheek while she kept her eyes locked on mine. "You're going to be a great boss."
"How can you be certain?" I asked with my face unchanged but I knew that she could sense the turmoil I had inside of me.
"Did you think you'd be good at modeling?" She asked, knowing how much I had doubted myself then too.
I grinned and shook my head, "Honestly? No. I'm just lucky I have good genes."
"It's much more than that," She said seriously and smiled, tracing her thumb over my bottom lip. "You're going to be amazing, no matter what you do."
I leaned my forehead against hers, staring into her dark eyes and smiling, "What would I do without you?" I asked before biting her thumb gently.
"You'll never find out." She said back softly before closing the small distance between us once again by pressing her lips on mine.
I took that moment to relax, my arms wrapping around her tiny body as I kissed her back. I couldn't explain how much I loved my girl. I pulled my head back, still holding her close and parted my lips. "In a few months you'll be legally mine forever." I grinned.
The door opened suddenly, my dad appearing out of nowhere and blinking as he saw Cami, "Am I interrupting something? I hope not because your mom could go nuts if she knows you two are messing around at the agency."
"Dad." I groaned, feeling Cami hide against my chest.
"Oh come on, we're all grown up here." He said as he walked over us, looking as amused as always if not more. "Hi Cami."
She finally pulled her head back, but I didn't let her go, "Hi Mr Lindsell." She said with a grin on her face, because she knew how much my dad didn't like that.
"Hi future Mrs Lindell." He said back, not missing a beat. "Are you ready for our meeting son? Mom is waiting already."
I nodded my head, not sure if I was that ready but oh well, I had to go through that sooner or later. "Yes, Cami's coming too."
"The more the merrier," Dad winked at her then nodded his head towards the door. "We better get going. You know how much your mom hates when people are late... It throws off her schedule and ruins her whole day," He rolled his eyes but grinned.
"Says the man who is late to everything," I grinned at my dad as we broke apart, my hand slipping into hers while we followed behind my dad.
He grinned at me and shook his head, "Five minutes behind schedule isn't late."
"You were almost 20 minutes late the other day!" I reminded him, having had to wait in front of his office for my dad.
"I blame that one on your mom," He grinned cheekily while I groaned.
"Dad," I said flatly and Cami laughed.
"Like I said, we're all adults here!" He replied, knocking once before opening the door for us to mom's office.
"Hi Benj-" My mother cut herself off as soon as she lifted her head and saw my fiancè. "Cami. I didn't know you were coming too."
"I didn't know that either." She grinned back at my mom as we all took a seat, my parents on one side of the desk and us two on the other. "Is that a problem?"
"Never." My dad interjected and shot me a grin, "Look at his face. He's so nervous he's about to go nuts."
"I'm not nervous." I retorted flatly, even if it was true, but I didn't want to admit it. "But I'm happy that Cami's here. At least I won't have to tell her about this meeting when I get home."
My dad and my mom exchanged a look, and I swear, it was like being teenagers all over again. "Good point Ben." My mom said eventually, her face turning serious like everytime she was about to talk about business. "So, your dad and I thought about what would be the best moment for you to start taking over the agency. Of course you have a lot to learn and it's going to take time for you to get adjusted, but you'll have us to help you."
"Talk for yourself woman, I can't wait to stop working." My dad grinned and my mom just rolled her eyes.
"We were thinking-I was thinking," She corrected herself, shooting a glare to my dad that only amused him more, "That you could start at the beginning at the new year, officially. We'd break the news at our annual Christmas party."
I listened to her carefully and I'd lie if I said I didn't feel a little intimidated. Cami had to sense that because she reached for my hand and squeezed it. "I'll follow your lead, as you said, I have a lot to learn." I said back, taking a deep breath.
She nodded her head, "You can always shadow me. Most of what I do is basic business stuff; shoot e-mails, meetings, read through paperwork... Honestly, we've employed enough people that the agency runs very smoothly. However, I don't want you to think that because there are so many people who can carry your weight, that you could slack off. You're going to be the face of the company. You too Cami... and Gabe," She added, looking at me with an intense gaze. She knew how I felt about bringing Gabe into the limelight. He was still so young and innocent, we wanted to protect him forever from the life we had known since we were kids.
I nodded my head while Cami kept her hand in mine, "I understand and you should know me well enough that I would take this job serious and never slack off." My momd and dad both nodded their heads. "But it will be my company and I don't understand why that would effect my family."
Mom sighed and softened her expression, "All I am saying is that with you in charge, people want to know about you, who you are. They care about your background and the woman by your side. You two have done such a great job keeping Gabe away from the industry, but I want you to prepare for what might happen once you take over."
"What might happen?" Camiasked and blinked at her, not able to bite her tongue but I was grateful she was asking what I meant to ask myself.
"Nothing serious," She clarified. "But people are going to love Gabriel. When you become the company Ben, not only you are under scrutiny, but your family is too. I'm not trying to worry you because nothing bad would ever happen, but people will take great notice in your family life. They want to trust you."
I realized I had started shaking my head even before my mom had finished talking. If there was something I never wanted to happen? That was my son under the world's scrutiny. I knew how it was from experience and if it was already had on us adults, seeing how it had made Cami suffer in the past, how hard it could be on a kid? "I don't want to share my son." I pointed out, the tone of my voice firm because I wasn't going to change my mind, "He's getting adjusted to our new life and already has enough on his plate with his parents getting back together, getting married, wanting another baby. I'm not going to let people stick their nose into his life. He's just a kid."
"What you mom means," My dad interjected, for once being as serious as we all were, "Is that it's going to happen eventually and maybe it's better if it does on your terms. If you're willin to give a little to magazines, they're more inclined to leave you more alone, if you shut them off they'll push until they'll get something anyway. You have to learn this, son."
"I don't care about what they say about me, I have nothing to hide and I'm old enough not to give a crap-"
"Ben." My mother scolded me, as if I was still 10. It was cute, annoying too. I just groaned, feeling as if they were cornering me, my grip on Cami's hand getting tighter. "What do you think Cami?" My mom added, giving her attention to my fiancè since she was into this as much as I was.
Cami took a deep breath and parted her lips. "I understand where you two are coming from because that's the only lifestyle Ben and I have ever known..." She trailed off, running her tongue over her top lip. "Ben's already one of the highest paid models in the industry though. We'd done a good job so far keeping our private life separate from his career, so what I don't understand is why will that change now?"
Mom smiled reassuringly at her then moved her eyes to me, "Because the transition might make people doubt Ben." She shot me a grin, "No offence Benji, but models are misconstrued to be brainless, stand in front of a camera and smile then get paid millions. People are going to want to know what qualifies you for this position."
"But it's a family company," Cami interjected. "Isn't that enough?"
"It's a good start, but it's not enough." My mom said back, shrugging.
My eyes darted to my dad which looked this close to falling asleep. He killed me. "I understand what you're saying mom, but I don't think that sharing my private life will mean a thing about how well I can handle the company." I pointed out, "Results will, I could have an awful life and still work hard."
Cami shot me an half amused look, "Which is not the case anyway."
I grinned at her briefly, "No." I said before giving my attention back to my mom, "But I think you know what my point is. People wanting to get a piece of my family because I'll be running the agency? That's just an excuse. You know how stubborn I am and I'm not going to change my mind about this, not when my son's privacy is so important to me. To us." I corrected myself because I knew Cami and I were on the same page, "If they want to think I'm brainless and I'm going to be awful at this? Let them. I'll prove them wrong."
Ava smiled at mw and she looked proud of me. "No one is going to think you're brainless and honestly? I'm sure there won't be any privacy problems when it comes to your private life at home. I just want you to be prepared for anything that could possibly happen." She said and for a moment, I felt confused. "You're my child and I know how important it is to protect your kids from that lifestyle... I'm thankful that there weren't paparazzi everywhere when you and Chloe were kids."
Dad snorted and gave us a nod.
"Everything will be fine Ben, really," She smiled a little brighter. "I wouldn't ask you to take over the position if I thought it would harm you and your family in any way."
Corey leaned close to his wife to kiss her on the cheek then smile at us, "My wife has a point. You have nothing to worry about."
"Your wife first decides to terrify me, then says it's going to be okay." I pointed out instead, raising one eyebrow at my parents because honestly? At this point I wasn't sure which part I believed more.
My mom wrinkled her nose, like she did everytime she heard something she didn't like. "I only meant to warn you on the possible scenarios." She pointed out, "It doesn't mean it's going to happen."
I just sighed, leaning back in the chair and feeling exhausted all of a sudden. "You know how he is, he worries a lot." Cami said to Ava, smiling as she shot me a side glance and squeezed my hand.
"I wonder where he got that from." My dad interjected and for the first time he looked really deep into that thought.
"Are we done?" I asked instead, wondering if my parents had more to tell me.
"Benjamin!" My mom narrowed her eyes on me then sighed. "I don't want you mad at me... I'm only trying to help prepare you."
I grunted in response and dad snorted a laugh. "I think that's enough information for one day," He told his wife and smiled at me. "Honestly though? We've hired enough people to make sure this place runs smoothly. We complain about no free time, but I love BMM and have dedicated a huge chunk of my life to it. You're going to do great and love what you do."
Mom nodded her head, "Your father is right."
Corey's eyes bulged, "Did I just hear your mother correctly?"
She rolled her eyes but grinned, leaning into him for another kiss. Cami smiled at the two of them, while I wasn't impressed because that was their usual show. "Okay Ben, I guess that's it for today," She said while still looking at her husband. It was clear that they only wanted to kick us out and not because we were done. My parents were...there were no words.
"Are you in a hurry to be alone with Dad?" I asked flatly, not amused, and got up anyway, holding Cami's hand in mine. "Don't worry, we're leaving."
My mother was used to my mood just as I was to their display of affection, so she just shot me a look, "We can talk more another day, for now you should think about what we've said today." She said softly.
I nodded, "Okay mom." I said simply then glanced at my father, "Dad." I added before making my way out the office, hearing Cami blowing them one kiss and that made me smile a little. I loved how she loved my parents, and they loved her back just as much. Even for them, Cami had always been the only one for me.
"What's wrong?" My gorgeous fiancè broke into my thoughts, making me realize that I was keeping quiet.
I turned my head towards her and wrapped my arm around her shoulders as we walked down the hallway, "Nothing baby. I always get annoyed when I feel like Gabe's privacy could not be safe." I explained.
Cami parted her lips then shrugged and eventually let out a sigh. "Everything is going to be fine," She said in a reassuring tone as if it were for the both of us and in a way, it was. "Your parents wouldn't put you in a bad situation."
I nodded reluctantly, "I guess you're right."
"I'm always right baby," She grinned at me.
"I forgot," I let out a small laugh. "I invited Chloe and Tristan to spend a day few days with us at the alps."
She widened her eyes, looking surprised, "Are they coming?" She asked curiously.
"I don't know." I shrugged, because I wasn't really. Tristan had a talent in dogding questions and avoding topics, though in this case I knew he would need some time, both to think and talk to Chloe.
She made a thoughtful expression, "I can't really imagine your sister saying no to that." She pointed out.
I grinned at her eventually, because she was right, "True. But I asked Tristan so it might take a little to have him say yes. He was coming up with excuses like...work."
"But you're going to be his boss you could literally force him to come with us." She said back and let out a silly laugh, "I'm surprised you asked him. Good surprised."
I squeezed her against my side, keeping my eyes on her as we walked out the agency, "It was all part of my plan, have them watch Gabe while we make babies."
A laugh escaped Cami's lips. "Well in that case? I hope they'll come," She said seriously and smiled.
I smiled back at her then kissed the top of her head, "Do you want to do lunch?"
"I want to go home and practice making babies instead," She grinned back mischievously.
I laughed and shook my head, "If we're going to have sex then I should probably eat first... otherwise I'll have no strength."
She faked a sigh then smiled again, "I guess you have a point."
