everybody's looking for that something

"Hey handsome." I smirked as I leaned into Travis' office. He was sitting at his desk, his suit coat hung up and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. When he heard my voice he grinned and my heart skipped. He was so fu.cking hot it wasn't even fair.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, leaning back and making it obvious as his eyes traveled over my body. I was wearing a sleeveless button down blouse tucked into a tight black pencil skirt and my highest heels. It was my favorite outfit when I actually had to look professional.
"I had a meeting downtown and thought I'd take you to lunch." I replied.
"I'll do you one better. I'm going home early." I widened my eyes and stared at Travis.
"Are you still Travis Cole?" I asked. "Do you have a fever?" He rolled his eyes.
"I went in early today. We can have a 2 and a half day weekend." He stood up and stretched and I enjoyed the view as I walked towards him and then wrapped my body around his.
"You're too good to me." I whispered. He wrapped his big arms around me and squeezed me tight.
"Do you want to go out? You're all dressed up." I shook my head.
"No I just want you." I admitted. We'd both been really busy with work and all the family drama in our lives.
"I actually promised to have lunch with Jax." He admitted, running his hand through his hair. I shrugged.
"That's cool. As long as I get to take you home and have my wicked way with you after." I gave him a fake inncent smile and he smirked.
"We'll see."
"What!?" I laughed. Grabbing his hand as he led me out of his office and through the building.
"It's almost too bad you don't work here anymore." Trav said slowly as we walked outside.
"Lies, you'd be always distracted and you'd hate it." I rolled my eyes but smirked since we'd had some really good times there when I worked there.
"I don't mind being distracted sometimes." he shrugged as we walked to a restaurant nearby. I shook my head.
"Excuse me but who are you? Because my boyfriend would never say that." I faked a serious face and Trav only smirked wider.
"You just earned a good spank for later."
"Yay!" I exclaimed then chuckled before pressing a quick kiss on his lips.
"Look at the happy couple." Jax pointed out as soon as he saw us. "I thought it was just me and Trav."
"I can go away if you want." I replied, pouting at my friend.
"No." He paused then looked over me like Travis had. Well not just like he had, but still he was looking. "How come you're dressed so professional?"
"She's sexy." Travadded, pulling me against his side and making me have a mental note to dress professionally around Trav more often.
"I had a meeting." I paused and blinked at Jax who was more dressed up than even I was. "Why aren't you in jeans and tshirt?!" He shrugged, looking a little uncomfortable but still handsome as usual.
"I had a meeting too. I'm going to tell you everything but I'm hungry, so let's eat first." I announced as we walked into the restaurant and asked for a table.
"Everything as planned?" Trav asked his brother, obviously knowing much more than I did. Jax nodded as we sat around the table and I noticed he looked much better than the last time I'd seen him.
"Yes, everything went smoothly." He reassured.
"Good."
"I feel left out." I wrinkled my nose and grabbed a menu. Travis dropped his hand on my leg and squeezed it as he smiled at me.
"We'll fill you in baby."
"Meh." I said flatly, not liking being out of the loop.
"We picked a name. Ruby." Jax announced, out of nowhere, making me look up at him just as fast as Travis did.
"Ruby?" he echoed him. "Ruby as my niece Ruby?"
"That's adorable." I smiled and tried to keep from tearing up as I reached over and squeezed Jax's hand. "I love it. Whats her middle name?" Jax laughed as Travis looked at me.
"Why does she need a middle name?" He asked. "Ruby Cole is perfect."
"I have a middle name. Will has a middle name. Don't you think she'll want one if her brother has one?" Travis shrugged.
"You sound like your sister." Jax commented, and I found it interesting he didn't even use her name.
"Besides it'll probably be Ruby Trenton-Cole anyways." I shrugged.
"No." Travis and Jax said at the same time. I widened my eyes.
"Why not? Will is William Henry Trenton-Barrett." I replied. "And Colbie was married to Will's dad." Jax made a little growl as Travis spoke.
"That is too fu.cking long. What is he a king of England?"
"To be fair, I don't think he's used the Barrett part since Nick left." I admitted.
"Colbie already said it was Ruby Cole." Jax replied.
"There's one way to get my brothers to hate you." I laughed. "But if it's okay with Colbie." I shrugged.
"Your brothers need a fu.cking chill pill." Travis shook his head. "Or a girlfriend."
"They do need girlfriends. They need to fall hopelessly and utterly in love so they don't have time to worry about anything else anymore. Especially Reece."
"I'm not sure he could even get a girlfriend." Jax joked and I stared at him before laughing because Jax was the last person to talk bad about someone. Travis sure, but not Jax.
"You're wrong. Girls love a.ssholes." I turned my thumb over to my man and smirked. "Proof positive." Travis shot me a wicked grin.
"Your number of spankings is going up Lil." he said slowly.
"Mmm...Promises promises." I sighed.
"Seriously?" Jax glared at both of us.
"Well you're not telling me what your meeting is about and I have a very short attention span!" I exclaimed, clapping to myself when the waitress brought out our soups. I was hungry.
"She's easily distracted." Travis replied. "Like a puppy."
"Careful or I won't let you spank me." I replied in a sing song voice as I licked my lips. "I'm waiting." I told Jax as Travis snorted
"I-" Jax started but my boyfriend cut him off.
"I have a new assistant." Trav announced with a smirk. I glared at him, since I knew all about his new assistant. She was way too pretty for her own good.
"Travis." I narrowed my eyes on him, "No spanks tonight."
"We'll see who won't spank you tonight when you'll be tied to my bed." he said, not missing a beat which made a shiver go through me. This man killed me....
"Can you two stop, not everyone has a happy exciting sex life." Jax groaned and I winced as I looked back at Jax.
"Sorry Jax."
"That's why you should meet my new assistant." Trav said, looking over at his brother with a significant look. "She's hot."
"How hot?" He asked slowly, looking slightly interested.
"Super. Dark hair, dark eyes...she's in her forties I think but damn she has a killer body." Trav said honestly. Jax widened his eyes and then glanced at me.
"Aren't you jealous?" He asked slowly.
"Nah. I'm over being jealous, at the end of the day he always comes home to me and I trust him so being jealous is pointless." I shrugged as I kept eating her soup, I mean I didn't love the fact that he noticed other women, but it's not like I never recognized a hot guy. "But you should be with my sister, not with some random s.lutty assistant." I added just to make sure my opinion was heard.
"She's not s.lutty at all." Trav said back and raised one eyebrow. "And your sister made it clear that she doesn't want him."he added and I could hear him getting angry.
"Yeah. Unfortunately." I sighed, though I knew it was much more complicated than that. Jax reached for my hand and squeezed it,
"Don't be upset, I'm over it. I just want to focus on my daughter now. And Will." He said with his usual smile on his face.
"I have no idea of how you can do that." Trav muttered, shaking his head.
"Because he's not you."
"You're lucky." Jax said with a sigh.
"We build our luck Jackson." Trav told him seriously, sounding so much like the successful professional he was, even if he was the baby of the family. "You're doing all the right things right now and that's all that matters. All you need other than that is to get laid."
"I can't when another woman is carrying my daughter."
"Says who? You're not together and you're just a man. Come on Jax, I know you, you can't resist much longer."
"Seriously?" I made a face at Trav. "He doesn't need to hop into bed with the next hottie." I rolled my eyes.
"Why not?" Trav asked, looking at me intently.
"Because he has more self control than that." I narrowed my eyes on my boyfriend and he shrugged.
"Do you?" He asked Jax.
".....do you have a picture?" Jax asked and I scoffed.
"Seriously? If that's how fast you get over her Colbie was right to leave you." I replied, saying what was on my mind.
"Oh Lila." Travis shook his head as Jax glared at me.
"Is that what you think? That I'm over her?" I gave him a matching stare right back.
"Must be if you're so willing to get under Trav's super hot assistant." I rolled my eyes.
"Excuse me for trying to move on with my life. While you and Travis had the luxury of drinking away your heartbreak and yelling at each other for weeks? I don't have that. I have a daughter I'm preparing for. And Colbie isn't pining away for me the way you two were. It's fu.cking over. We all have to get that. I'd rather live my life than wait around for a woman who has been running from me even when we were together!!!" His words hit me hard. I think a part of me thought that maybe they could be the family that I knew both of them always wanted. I wanted to tell him that I was pretty sure Colbie was pining for him but he was right. They didn't have time for games. They were having a child.
"I know." I admitted. "I just...she made you so happy."
"But I didn't make her feel the same." Jax replied.
"Let's change the subject." Travis replied, reaching over and squeezing my hand. I was proud of him for not saying anything during the last few moments. I knew he had never really approved of Colbie and Jax and I didn't blame him for trying to help Jax move on. Sometimes I forgot Travis was the youngest Cole the way he acted with his brothers.
"Okay." I agreed. "Why are you all dressed up like a sexy GQ model?" I asked Jax, smirking as he grinned at me, back to his silly self for now even if I was afraid it was just a mask.
"You like what you see?" he asked, rolling his sleeves up slowly. I rolled my eyes.
"Tell me!"
"You should just tell her Jax, she's going to find out eventually."
"I asked Travis to invest in a new company." Jax said finally. I nodded, since that was something Travis did all the time.
"What does that have to do with you?" I asked.
"It's my company." Jax replied seriously, his face showing the pride he had for what he was doing all over it.
"What?" I asked, dropping my spoon.
"Cole Contracting." I stared at him, tempted to start crying because I had thought he could do that for so long, knew how good he was and how much more he deserved in his career. But I knew they'd both just hate that, so I tried to push back the tears of pride I had for my friend as I smiled.
"Well it's about time." I said instead.
"Don't cry Lil." Jax laughed and I glared at him.
"I'm not crying!" I lied, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Oh you are, your eyes are glossy." he teased her as Trav wrapped his arm around my shoulders and me against him. "Come here big baby."
"Oh my god Travis!!!" I pushed him away but when they both laughed I laughed with them. "I'm just so proud of you Jax" I added softly.
"I am too." Trav said seriously and we both basically beamed at him.
"Thank you guys. Despite all the s.hit that went down lately I feel like I'm doing something real good." He smiled. If a daughter and a broken heart was what he had needed to finally make something with his life then maybe it was worth the pain.
"We should celebrate with dessert." I clapped.
"Since when you celebrate with dessert, we should have drinks instead." Trav groaned.
"We'll get drinks tonight." I told him with a grin, "Do you want to come over tonight? We can have dinner and go out with the others too."
"Look at my girlfriend organizing my life." Trav said flatly though I could tell he wasn't really annoyed. Jax shook his head as he grinned at me.
"I'd like that but I have something else to do." He said. "So for now I say yes to the dessert."
"Lila we're sharing anything chocolate thank you." Trav said seriously, like I didn't already know that.  "What do you have to do tonight?"
"Will is coming over. I promised him pizza and video games." He announced and he looked both embarrassed and proud. Too adorable. He was going to make such an amazing father....mostly because he already was one. Trav whistled.
"That doesn't sound bad I'm considering to come over too." he said grinning.
"Hmmm. I can't tie myself to the bed....." I trailed off and Jax groaned again while Travis laughed.
"Good point. Sorry I have other plans."
"You two are gross." Jax replied as I ordered the chocolate raspberry dessert.
"If you're jealous Travis said he has an assistant who's slu.tty." Travis shook his head.
"No she's not...she's just hot." I nodded.
"I think most girls are slu.tty when they meet you or your brothers." I admitted. Even my usually perfect sister hadn't been able to keep herself immune to Cole charms.
"Too bad I'm not single." Trav smirked and I glared at him.
"Talk about how great your assistants body is some more. See what happens."
"I swear you two are both always two seconds away from fighting or fu.cking." Jax groaned. "Maybe we should drink now instead." I laughed as Travis pulled me closer and kissed me quickly.
"Us? We never fight."
"Tell me more about your new company. Do you have an office? Do you need help designing a website? I have an in with a really good graphics designer."
"Almost, yes and yes." Jax smirked at me and I laughed while I thought all about how I could make his website look.
"Almost?! How can you almost have an office?"
"I think I do but I still have to make it official." He said back with a big smile on his face. God he was being adorable. I was so happy for him.
"It makes sense now. I can't wait to help you with the creative part!" I clapped.
"Yeah I can tell." He laughed too before looking serious again. "Lil, don't tell anything to Colbie." He added.
"Why?" I noticed Trav yawning out of the corner of my eye and resisted rolling my eyes. Like I was the one who got bored easily.
"Because it's not your thing to say, he's going to tell her." Trav groaned, shaking his head.
"I'm bad at keeping secrets." I admitted. "But yeah, of course! She's going to be happy for you Jax."
"I still have so much to do and say. Our parents don't know anything yet." He groaned, looking much older than his years for a moment when he usually looked so young instead.
"Really?!" I asked and he nodded before I went to get some chocolate. "Oh my god Trav you ate all the dessert!!!"
"Yes and it was delicious." he paused to shoot me a satisfied grin, "But that's off topic, we were talking about more serious things."
"It was my idea to even get dessert!" I pouted and he rose a brow before kissing me hard. I licked his lower lip which tasted like a mix of chocolate and fruit and he groaned before sliding his tongue against mine. Mmmm this was even better than dessert.
"Ahem." I held up one finger to Jax as I leaned in and kissed Trav harder, almost everything in the world forgotten when his tongue was tangling with mine. "I will leave. I will leave you two alone to get kicked out of this restaurant." Travis pulled away to start laughing and I shrugged.
"What? I wanted dessert." I smirked and slid my hand to Trav's knee.
"Here." He pushed his lemon cake towards me. "I suddenly have no appetite." I grinned and grabbed a fork.
"Awesome." I took a big bite and looked at Trav who was looking over at me with an amused look on his face. God he was so handsome.
"You're silly." He said shaking his head.
"You're sexy." I replied, smirking as I popped a raspberry in my mouth. "I won't tell Colbie. But you have to tell her soon."
"Deal." Jax said.
