I opened the door of Colbie's house before she could knock and watched her blink her eyes before she smiled at me. "Hi." She said softly.
"Hi." I grinned at her and gave her a glance over, she was definitely very pregnant now but still so damn beautiful and sexy. She was born to make babies, it suited her. I noticed her blush, which only made me grin wider as I grabbed her hand and pulled her inside. "Don't be shy, we don't have time for that."
She giggled as she followed me to the livingroom, "Yeah you sounded in a hurry when you called me earlier." She pointed out and it was her turn to look at me, "You were all business."
"I still am." I said a little more seriously as I pulled her against me and kissed her hard.
She kissed me back then pulled back, "What are we doing Jax?" She breathed out but her tone was also...careful? I knew what she meant. After the night spent out like a couple of teenagers we hadn't seen each other, but she had been on my mind a lot, always, as usual. There had been phone calls, texts, everything was starting to feel like we were back to where we used to be once, only now it was all different. And I wanted to make sure that different meant better this time.
"I'm going to tell you everything now. We have a little time before Will joins us too." I told her softly and urged her to sit on the couch.

"Will?" She asked with a brow raised, "What is this about Jax you're making me nervous."
"You have nothing to be nervous about." I told her and added a smile even though my voice was admittedly the one I used when I was set on my job. When I was serious and damn if I was right now. I sat next to her then grabbed her hand, "Listen Colbs...it's been nine neverending and incredibly hard months for us."
She nodded quickly, listening to me carefully. "I know, but we're getting better now right? I wanted to ask you if we-"
"Listen to me first." I cut her off, "After that, if you'll still have questions, I'll answer."
"It's taking everything in me not to freak out." She confesssed under her breath, which made me grin a little.
"I know we got better and I've been thinking about us a lot lately...well, more than usual, if possible. You know what I want and I think right now you know what you want too. It won't be long before we'll have our daughter with us too and it's time to make decisions, permanent ones." I told her, putting into words the thoughts that had been haunting me for weeks now. It felt good to say it all out loud, but she wasn't the only one to feel nervous.
"I want to be with you." She whispered looking up at me with those big eyes that were my weakness, squeezing my hand a little too. "For real."
"Prove it to me, now." I said seriously and reached for the papers sitting on the coffee table in front of us before handing them to her. "If we're going to be a couple I want to do things right. Sign this and we'll be both owners of this house. Of course you won't have to pay any of the work I had done here." I explained trying to act as cool as possible, hoping I was playing the right card.
Colbie looked on the verge of tears but then recovered and gave me a silly smile. “I dunno….even with all the work you put in I think to make it even you’d still owe me money.” She shrugged.
I widened my eyes and then rolled them. “You’re being a smartass.”
“I’m willing to take sexual favors as a payment.” She replied, being even sillier.
I smirked. “Is that a yes or no silly woman?”
She grinned and grabbed a pen from her bag, signing it happily and officially making this amazing place our house. “Yes.” She replied, handing me back the papers. “But I added in the sexual favors as an addendum.”
I blinked and then glanced down to the paper, where she had indeed added that I should see her for how to make up the difference. I grinned and placed my hands on either side of her against the kitchen island. “I’ll give you those for free.” I grinned wickedly.
“Mmm…I’m waiting.” She replied, looking really really happy.
“I told you Will is getting here in like-“
“Holy shit this place is awesome!” Rob’s voice cut through the room and I turned around to see Will and my nephew walking in the house.
“I know right? You should see my bedroom it’s awesome.” Will grinned.
“Rob watch you mouth.” I said sternly to Rob who just rolled his eyes.
“Like you never curse.”
I shook my head. “I do and I can because I’m an adult. When you’re 18 you can say whatever you want to. As long as it’s not in front of a woman.”
“Mom curses.” Will piped up and Colbie's face got red. “So does Aunt Lila. A lot.”
“Dude she’s hot.” Rob grinned.
“Eww.” Will shot back. “She’s like twice your age. And my aunt….and dating your uncle!!”
Rob shrugged. “Hot is hot.” He replied.
“Fine.” Will replied. “You know who’s hot? Your mom.” He fired back, smirking as Rob made a face.
“Too far man!!!!”
“How about both of you go for girls your own age.” She suggested in a laugh.
“Why are you even here?” I asked.
“Will said you asked me to come over and I wanted to see the pool”
“Yeah what’s up Jax?” He asked, looking up adoringly at me.
I pursed my lips together because I wasn't sure if I wanted to break all the news to him in front of Robert too. It wasn't like I had it planned, but I guessed that having kids meant this too, expect the unexpected. "Go show him the pool we'll talk later." I said eventually, sighing.
Will grinned and nodded, looking happy and carefree just like a teenager should be. "Okay let's go." He said glancing at Rob and disappearing in a heartbeat.
"What's wrong did you change your mind already?" Colbie asked, pouting a little.
"No it's just...we're not done talking." I answered quietly, staring blankly in front of me.
"Jax." She reached for my arm and squeezed it, claiming my attentions. "What just happened?"
"Nothing, I'm trying to figure out if I owe you money." I said simply, shrugging. I didn't like talking about money, I never needed to because it had always been me alone I had to take care of, I was the only one I had been in a serious relationship with. And not even that serious sometimes.
She relaxed visibly and smirked at me. "Who cares Jax, this house being ours is all I care about." She said, I could see how honest she was about it. Our backgrounds were different so it made sense.
I shook my head stubbornly. "No. This is the first stone we're setting for our future. I want to do it right." I said.
"Jax I honestly have no idea. I know how much I paid this house but I don't know the value of your work. It's not that important..." She trailed off, leaning into me.
I turned my head to stare into her eyes. "It is for me. I'm not giving you a choice Colbs, we have to fix this."
She rolled her eyes but then smiled as she pressed a quick kiss on my lips. "God when did you become so stubborn?" She teased me.
"I'm a Cole, it's a family trait." I allowed myself to grin as I cupped her cheek before kissing her myself, softly.
"Mhm I hope Ruby won't be stubborn like you." She whispered against my lips, looking deep into my eyes.
"As if you're any better." I teased her. "But seriously-"
"Okay! I'll come to your office tomorrow, happy now?" She sighed then leaned back.
I nodded, admittedly feeling better. "Super happy baby." I grinned at her, keeping her close to me. "When should we move in? I asked after a moment, my hand dropping on her belly and rubbing it.
“Now?” Colbie asked, more than serious.
“We don’t have a moving van now.” I laughed.
“Should I be telling you how much the house is worth or how much I bought it for because I basically stole it.” She grinned and I rose a brow at her. “I have an excellent realtor.”
“Ahh….I think we raised the value a little bit.” I chuckled.
She nodded, “Yeah, too bad we aren’t flippers, this would be an incredible investment.”
“It’s true. I’ve already had a few people by asking when it was going for sale.”
“Seriously?!” She asked.
“Too bad for them it’s ours.”
She smiled and winced. “Ow! Damn girl is going to be a soccer player for how much she kicks me.” She grumbled.
I laughed. “Ahh. Sorry babe.” I leaned down and spoke to her stomach. “Stop hurting your mother, I don’t want to have to punish you before you’re even born.”
She chuckled and shook her head as she went to sit down on one of the folding chairs that the men had used when they worked here. “I’ll just ignore her weird cravings. That’ll show her.” She teased.
“Are you okay? Do you need some water?” I asked.
She nodded. “I’m fine but that would be nice thanks.” She replied. “I swear I’m twice the size I was with Will. This baby is going to be huge.”
“She is a Cole.” I chuckled.
“Yeah but look at Poppy! She’s tiny!”
“So is her mother.” I pointed out grabbing some tap water out of a plastic cup.
“Are you saying I’m not tiny?” She asked, raising her brow at me, even though we both knew that she understood what I meant.
“You’re perfect.” I replied, ignoring her silliness again and handing her a water. “And Ruby will be too.”
“I hope so.” She rubbed her stomach. “I hope she’s healthy. Will was a few weeks early and had to be on a breathing machine for a month.”
“You never told her that.” I replied.
“I just did. You knew I had a C-Section with him, you’ve seen me naked.” She pointed out.
“Do you think it’ll be the same way with Ruby?” I asked slowly.
She shrugged, “I hope not. This pregnancy is so different than my first I don’t really know what to expect.”
“Hopefully you’ll know exactly what to do the next time.” I grinned and she softened as I looked down at her with so much happiness.
“You want more kids?” She asked softly.
I nodded. “I do. Don’t you?”
“Yeah.” She agreed. “But not too many, I don’t want 7 like my family!” She laughed.
I shook my head. “No? Why not?”
“Because with that many one is bound to be a bad egg.” She teased. “Like my grump of a cop brother. You know he moved in with Mom because he doesn’t think she can take care of herself? And she loves him too much to say anything but the woman is perfectly capable.”
“Sounds like you and Lila told him to get off your cases so he found something else.”
“Yeah, but how about a hobby? Or a girlfriend? He’s so damn protective he’ll probably want to watch me give birth.” She shook her head.
“No.” I replied seriously.
“Yeah no!!! I love him but he can see the baby when she’s already born and I’ve had a few moments to rest just like everyone else.”
"I'll make sure that I'll have my time with you instead of letting your brothers bully me like the last time we were at the hospital." I muttered, not happy to relive that memory even if it was in my mind only.
She looked up at me, frowning. "Do you still think about that day? Please say you don't."
I sighed. "Sometimes I'm tempted but no. I had to get over it if I wanted to be with you and since I'm with you now...well you do the math." I ended the sentence with a grin on my face to let her know it was okay. Everything was okay now.
"Thank god." She let out a deep breath and I sat across from her, grabbing one of her leg and setting it on mine.
"But I think we should have dinner all together one of these nights, just to let them know I'm not an asshole who runs away." I pointed out as I massaged her ankle.
She let out a soft moan. "Yes." She said simply. "Don't stop please this feel so good." She added when I got rid of her shoe and started massaging her foot.
"Are you even listening to me?" I asked with a grin.
"I'm having a hard time." She admitted and when she looked at me I raised a brow, amused. "But yes dinner all together sounds good to me. My brothers already know you're not bad though...they're just brothers. They worry for me and sometimes they're a little too much but what can I do."
"I hope they'll understand they have nothing to worry about from now on." I commented simply, squeezing her toes that looked like tiny sausages but I wasn't going to say that out loud. They looked oddly cute and funny. Colbs wouldn't be amused though.
She nodded then blinked. "Wait. What do you mean together? My family and yours too?"
"Are you out of your mind, putting your brothers and Travis in the same room? No. I'd like to have a drama free night thank you." I made a face. I loved my brother and I even understood his position only I had enough to deal with myself.
"Okay but if there's Lila then she'll ask Trav for sure." She reasoned out loud.
"And he'll say no. Problem solved. Let's leave Travis to Lila." I shrugged, knowing that she could handle him better than anyone else. Or they'd fight and then make up.
She lifted her other leg and set it next to the other, waiting for me to massage it too. "But then why can't we invite all your family if Travis is not going to come anyway?" She asked.
"Because if all my family is there Trav could come. While if it's just us and Lila he won't." I explained, knowing my brother better than anyone else.
She raised one eyebrow at me. "Isn't it...rude? Does he even know you say this kind of things?!"
I laughed. "Yes. And he knows I'm doing him a favor."
"One day he'll have to give up." She said seriously.
"Don't hold your breath." I smirked, making her roll her eyes. "Why do you even care? Is it because of Lila? She'll be fine, she knows what she got herself into."
"No I know that..." She trailed off, "Do you think he's still mad at me?"
"Who Travis?" I asked back and shook my head. "Nah. Now that you're finally reasoning again he's just happy for us." I teased her but it was also true.
“He must just be epic in bed.” Colbs said suddenly.
I widened my eyes. “What?!” I exclaimed, making her laugh.
“For Lila to put up with him!”
I smirked and then laughed too, shaking my head. “He puts up with Lila too.” I replied.
“Yeah but Lila is easy to deal with!! He’s all grumpy and serious and brooding all of the time.”
I smirked. “Not all of the time…just most of it.”
“So like I said he must be just like a sex Olympian.”
“First of all? I think that runs in the family.” I winked at her and she bit her lip as she blushed a little. “Secondly? You’re being silly.”
“Okay I know I’m saying it in a silly way….but Jax family is really important to Lila and I.”
“To us too.” I replied.
“So then why doesn’t Travis want to meet all of us? Is he just scared?”
I shrugged. “No Trav doesn’t get scared easily.” I said back. “But he is set in his ways. I mean let's be honest, getting in a room of a bunch of alpha males who are related to the woman you’re sleeping with is never a pleasant experience.”
“I’ve spent plenty of time with women they’re sleeping with and never said anything.” She replied seriously, but then backtracked. “At least not to their faces. My brothers have just awful taste in women.”
“See? I think he’s trying to avoid that right there. Not that he’s scared of it, but him and Lil have been through enough already to then add in a family disapproval on top of the mix. I’m doing it because our families are together forever now, there’s no stopping that when we’re bringing a baby into the world.”
“You’re a good man.” She smiled and leaned into kiss me. “And a sex Olympian.” She whispered against my lips, smirking a little and making me laugh.
“Should I prove it?” I grinned. “Later of course.” I replied, nodding outside to where the boys were playing.
“Mmm, maybe though I’m not sure it would even work anymore with how big I am.” She sighed.
"It will work." I told her seriously, staring at her.
She raised one eyebrow slowly, apparently amused when I was not. "How can you be so sure?" She asked with a silly grin on her face.
"Because there's no way I'm going to give up on sex. It might take a while before you're pregnant again." I said with a shrug.
She blinked at me then broke into a smirk. "You really love my body don't you?" She asked then pouted. "Even if I'm huge."
"Nonsense." I dismissed her words. She was perfect like this exactly like she was perfect before.
Her eyes softened as she looked up at me. "Are you thinking about having other babies already?"
"Yes." I answered simply then let out a deep breath.
She sat straighter, widening her pretty eyes at me. "What was that sigh for??"
"I'm exhausted all of a sudden." I confessed quietly, wrapping my arm around her shoulders to pull her against me again.
"And the baby isn't even born yet." She frowned and looked slightly worried.
I shook my head, wanting to reassure her. "I think it's more a mental thing. I had a lot to think about and now everything is falling into its right place so I can finally relax a little. Does it make sense?" I grinned at her.
"I think it's because you were too tense." She smirked up at me.
"Uh I wonder who should I blame for that." I furrowed my brows, teasing her.
She smacked my chest and widened her eyes again. "Jax!!"
I laughed. "I didn't say it was you!" I said back before pulling her into a long hard kiss which she surrendered to immediately. "I lo-"
"No wonder why they're having a baby." Robert's voice interrupted us.
Will cringed. "Don't let me think about it."
"Hey!!" Colbie protested, narrowing her eyes on the guys.
"At least you don't have to see them everyday." Rob teased and I didn't tell him to fuck off just because we weren't alone.
I glanced at Colbie and grinned wide. "Sure. Not now. But soon...when baby?" I asked her, using the pet name on purpose.
She faked a thoughtful expression, knowing what I was doing because she was my woman and she knew me better than she'd admit. "I think we should be able to move in by the end of the week?"
"That's right." I nodded and moved my eyes to Will, waiting for his reaction. "You better get used to us." I teased him because I knew he wanted that as much as we did too if not more.
“Yeah I-” Will turned and narrowed his eyes on her and me. “What do you mean us?” He asked.
“I mean I’m probably going to be making out with your mom every chance I get.” I shrugged and she widened her eyes before laughing.
“Dude.” Rob held up his hand for a high five which I rolled my eyes and slapped his hand away.
“First off? Gross.” Will shook his head. “But does this mean that the crazy has passed for both of you and you’re going to finally be together?”
Colbs nodded and I grabbed her waist and pulled her closer. “Yes.” She smiled, practically beaming.
“And you’re not going to walk out like my dad did?” Will asked, stepping closer to me and glaring up at me.
“I think you know me better than that.” I replied. “But if you need the words too I’ll give them to you. No matter what happens with me and your mother, and trust me I plan that what happens is that we’re together. But even if that’s not meant to be? I will never leave you or your sister alone. Or your mother.”
Will swallowed and nodded before he turned to her. “Do you believe him?” He asked.
“Of course I do baby.” She replied softly.
“So then you’re not going to get scared again and tell him to leave?” He asked, surprising her
She cupped his face in her hand. “You’re such a smart boy.” She whispered. “Not even a boy anymore.” She said softly. “I did get scared before, but I’m not anymore. And if I ever get scared again I’ll make sure to go to Jax and let him help me through it instead of pushing him away.” She said, to her son and to me at the same time.
“This is getting sappy. Like the end of a Disney channel movie.” Rob groaned. “I thought we were going swimming.”
I looked at my nephew and I couldn't help it, I broke into a laugh that got me a glare from my woman. "That was a good one. Kind of true too."
"Better than those depressing dramatic movie about love going wrong that mom watches sometimes." Will added in monotone and this time I didn't dare to laugh.
"Didn't Rob just say you wanted to go swimming." She said to her son, her brow raised.
"The pool is still empty." Will sighed then grinned at his friend. "Rachel texted me earlier..."
"Perfect." Rob told him and it was clear that they were having a conversation we couldn't get.
Colbie blinked. "Who's Rachel?" She asked.
Will didn't even answer but just shrugged. "I'll get back for dinner is that okay?" He asked instead and looked at me.
"If you did your homework already, yes." I told him, guessing that it was the right thing to say.
He nodded and both Will and Rob barely muttered a bye before disappearing.
"Who's Rachel?!" Colbie turned her face to me.
"I think she's his girlfriend or something...he told me something about her but I don't know much." I said back as I grabbed her hand, running my thumb across her palm.
She frowned immediately. "Why I don't know anything of this."
I grinned at her cute face. "Because you're his mom baby." I said softly.
"And you're his best friend now instead?" She pouted, "Awesome."
I smirked wider, vaguely amused. "I'm a guy and he needed advice."
"Okay." She paused, pursing her lips. Then the look into her eyes changed and she grinned. "I think you should talk to him."
"About what?" I furrowed my brows because I already talked to Will, a lot actually, and I was happy of the bond we had.
"About sex." She said candidly and I could tell she was super serious but also relieved she had me to do that.
I groaned because I didn't know if I could. Well, of course I could but I didn't know if I'd do it the right way. "I'm kind of sure he already knows more than than you think he does but okay." I agreed eventually.
She seemed satisfied and nodded in approval. "So what's next?" She asked and I just stared at her, completely lost. "The house is not ready yet, but I already have in mind how I want to furnish it."
"Do whatever you want baby, I don't think I have time to take care of that too. I got a lot of jobs and I want to do as much as I can before we have a baby to take care of too." I explained quietly.
"I want you this to feel like home to you too..." She trailed off quietly.
"I literally made this place Colbs. And you and Will and Ruby are my home, I don't care much about furniture." I shrugged honestly.
She beamed at me. "Oh Jax." She said softly and kissed me but it didn't last long. "Don't you want some of your stuff here?"
"Sure, maybe a few things." I told her, thinking about it. "What about I'll pick you and Will after I'm done working and we stay at the cabin tonight? We can decide what we want to move here while our kid can make fun of us and be grossed out."
"Yeah okay." Colbs nodded, smiling so much.
"Okay?" I asked, raising a brow at her.
"I'm sorry I feel like if I say more I'll ramble or start to cry because you're making me so happy." She admitted, her eyes getting a little watery even at just those words.
"Don't cry Colbs..." I cupped her cheek.
"I swear I'm going to try to be the girl you deserve." She whispered, leaning into my palm. "I never want to hurt you like I did before. I want to make you as happy as you make me."
"Baby you do make me happy. The past is in the past. This house makes me happy, you and Will and our daughter make me happy."
"This is like the best Christmas I've ever had." She admitted.
"And it's not even December." I laughed.
She chuckled with me before nuzzling into my chest. "I don't think I've ever felt so complete." She whispered.
"I haven't either." I held her back.
"His girlfriend's name is Rachel?" She asked, "I knew a Rachel in high school and she was awful." She pouted.
"I'm sure she's not awful" I laughed.
"What if she breaks his heart?" She pouted.
"Ahh, that's just something that has to happen in your life." I shrugged. "But I don't think you have to worry about that just yet."
"He's growing up so fast." She sighed.
"Kids do that."
"Yeah why do they do that? They should just stay our babies for forever." She joked...mostly.
I laughed and even if she made it sound like she was joking I knew a little part of her hoped that was possible. "Would you like to change diapers forever? Have sleepless nights forever?" I asked with a grin.
She wrinkled her nose, "No thanks." She grinned, "But you'll understand what I mean better when Ruby will grow up into a gorgeous young woman and there will be lines of guys ready to jump her."
"God, that sounds awful." I sighed but kept my smirk in place because we had a lot of time before that. "Thank god there will be Will keeping an eye on her too."
"If he's not too busy with Rachel." She frowned.
I laughed again, grabbing her hand when I got up and dragging her up with me. "He won't I promise. Unless they get married." I teased her.
She widened her eyes, "What are you talking about, Will is just a kid!!"
"When Ruby will be 15 he'll be 29, so..." I trailed off, just messing with her.
"Oh my god Jax!" She protested, frowning even more.
"I'm teasing you baby." I told her with a smile before kissing her lips hard goodbye. Even if I didn't want to. But I had to work, a lot, and I didn't want to suffocate her again anyway. "I'll see you tonight. No Rachels allowed."
"Deal." Colbie smiled and melted against me when I cupped her face and kissed her softly. She grabbed my shirt and deepened the kiss, sliding her tongue against my lips and tasting me.
"Colbie..." I growled.
"I just wanted a little more...." She whispered, smiling into my eyes.
I grinned and kissed her forehead. "You're very distracting."
She laughed. "Wait until I can do more than waddle around in maternity clothes." She winked.
"Mmm.. I remember...." I trailed off. "In fact your ability to distract me is exactly how you got into those maternity clothes."
She nodded. "Guilty as charged." She kissed me again. "Now go to work! You're so lazy." She laughed and I shook my head.
"You'll pay for that later."
"Mm...I hope so."
