"Well then who the hell is going to do the graphics?" I asked walking down the hallway of the Apple offices in New York.
"They sent a freelancer." My assistant explained as we got closer to my office.
I groaned again, "You're kidding me." I cursed under my breath before I got to the door and saw Lila. What the hell?
"They say she's good, used to actually work for the company! Her name is-"
"Lila Trenton." I finished. She winked at me.

Alexander looked up and she did a little wave as she watched him check her out. This was going to end bad. Really fucking bad. "Damn." He shook his head and looked between us.
"That will be all Jones." I said softly, but in a way that was definitley an order. The guy took one last look at what was mine and then left, leaving us in the dark office, so opposite from the white ones in California.
"What are you doing here?" I asked with a pointed look. I was annoyed, for many reasons, but I couldn't help noticing how hot she was in her pencil skirt as I took her body in.
"I'm freelancing." She grinned. "Happy birthday to you."
"Lila." I shook my head and she rolled her eyes.
"Grumpy even on your birthday. Well we better get to work then."
"It's my birthday, I can be as grumpy as I want." I groaned, not really liking this turn of events. It was confusing and complicated, two of the things I hated the most, but at the same time I couldn't really ignore that I was happy to see Lila.
She offered a smile, just like she did every time I was too grumpy, instead of getting mad or annoyed she reacted the opposite. "I think it'd be a waste, but I can handle you no matter how grumpy you are." She said softly as she stared into my eyes, standing up and setting her hands on my chest tentatively.
That was enough for me to feel something switch inside of me and I grabbed her suddenly, my arms wrapping around her tiny waist as I kissed her like the starving man I was. I felt her respond as fervently as I did, our kiss growing more heated and making me tight my hold on her until I was lifting her off the floor.
When we broke it, she smiled at me, this time giving me a more genuine one. "That's the Travis I love." She blushed as her hands moved up the back of my neck.
"I know." I smiled back at her as I set her back on her feet, allowing myself to ease up a little even though I still had a lot of time ahead of me before being able to give her the attention she deserved. "Don't mess my hair." I added as an afterthought. She made a face that mimicked mine, then squealed when I spanked her lightly, "Work now. I need you focused."
"You might want to get the lipstick off your face." Lila smirked and I grumbled while she grabbed a tissue to get the damn lipstick off my lips.
"Why were you even wearing lipstick?" I wondered out loud, since her lips were already the perfect shade of pink. They looked like cherries I'd never get tired of eating.
She laughed. "I'm at work, I wasn't expecting to make out....I'm a professional." She teased me and I grumbled again, because I was letting ler distract me, but I liked it too since it had been a stressful week.
"Where are you staying?" I asked as my mind already went to the moment when we'd be both free.
She smiled sweetly up at me, her eyes shining. "With you." She winked.
I let out a short breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding before I nodded, guessing that now that I knew that I'd have my eleven later I could work with her too now. "Do you know what needs to be done?" I asked eventually, changing the topic to the pressing one.
She pulled out her ipad and her rough sketches for the designs my project needed. "I had a few ideas to change the website he already designed, a little less color, a little more streamlined. Sometimes less is more." She grinned at me.
I nodded, because she was right, but damn she was so beautiful I kept losing focus. That skirt she was wearing was so sexy too. "I agree."
"Good then, we're on the same page."
I nodded again, sitting down at the desk in front of her and turning to my computer before shaking my head. "You're going to tease me all day wearing that." I groaned, doing my best not to look at her legs. Or her chest.
She smirked as she settled into her chair to work. "If you like this, just wait until you see what's underneath."
"Lila please." I said seriously as I kept my eyes glued on my computer, swallowing and wanting to bang my head against my desk or bang her against a wall. I needed to stop and remember that there was a time, a Lila free time, when I had a thing called self control.
"Do you want to see now?" She asked and when I finally glared at her, she was smirking. "I'll be good, don't worry."
I watched her bow her head, her hand working fast as she made a list on a piece of paper. She looked very into that, to the point that I was almost buying it. "How was your trip?" I asked casually as I typed on my keyboard, sending an email and also wondering why she was really here. Was because of work really or because of me? Or both? In which order? The fact alone that she was bringing me to wondering so many things annoyed me.
She shrugged nonchalantly, her eyes peeking up at me for a moment, "It was okay." She answered shortly, and that made me smirk instead.
"You hated it and freaked out." I said slowly, since I had witnessed the reaction she had when she took a plane with my own eyes.
"Yes." She admitted as she lifted her head to stare at me with a frown on her beautiful face, "At some point I wished I could just jump out of that plane."
I laughed at that, loving that small moment of total honesty she was giving me. I could picture her, hands clenched to the armrests, eyes shut tight and her whole body tense. "My poor eleven. What you'd do for work..."I trailed off with a smirk.
"What I'd do for you too." She corrected softly, her words having on me the same effect of a punch in my stomach.
I didn't know why everytime I reacted like this. At the end of the day I knew I'd be happy to have her with me, I was already happy actually. "We'll see later what you'd do for me." I commented quietly and went back to my email.
Silence fell in the office, though the energy between us was as loud as ever, it was as if there was an invisible pull between us that made everything else seem so unnecessary and irrelevant. Even work. "What will we do later?" She asked for a while and my guess was that she had been thinking about that a lot.
"I don't know yet, my plans changed." I answered with a shrug, finally sending the email and starting working on the final presentation of the project.
"How come?"
"I was supposed to be alone, instead this girl popped out of nowhere and now I have to spend my brithday with her." I smirked, though I wasn't watching her.
"Stupid girl. She should have known you'd prefer to spend your birthday pouting in your hotel room alone." Lila shook her head and I glanced up at her. "Hopefully she's at least good looking."
"She is that." I nodded, leaving it at that even though it was the understatement of the year.
"You should probably spank her." She commented, not looking up at me but still blushing.
"She knows she'll be getting spanked either way." I replied, knowing how to get under her skin.
She shook her head and pressed a button on her ipad. "I just e-mailed you all the restaurants I made reservations for. I also got access to vip rooms in a few new clubs just in case you want to feel young again. Then I highlighted times and locations of all the movies that boys like to watch." She grinned, looking proud. "But if you'd like we can just stay in too."
I blinked at her, then turned to my computer and scanned through the list. It was a damn long one. "How the hell did you get reservations at these places Lila?" I asked seriously.
She just shrugged. "Derek and Parker are in New York a lot....the name Trenton sometimes does wonders."
I looked at the list again and then shook my head. "You didn't need to do that." I said, thinking that I didn't even deserve it. Her birthday present had been me showing up with another girl...even if I had no idea. But still.
"I know." She agreed. "I also attatched a screen shot of the new website if you'd like to stop making birthday plans and get back to work." She teased.
"You're playing a dangerous game Lil." I said once I leaned back in my seat.
She laughed. "What's life without a little danger?" She winked just as someone knocked on the door before coming inside with two cups of coffee.
"I'm sorry Miss. Trenton I didn't know how you took your coffee..." My assistant apologized and Lila shook her head.
"I take it in a cup." She grinned. "Thank you so much." She smiled and I just nodded at him, sipping my cup as I went over numbers with the him.
I listened to what my temporary assistant had to say, this time not having any problem with Lila since she looked into her work as much as I was. I was more focused on how I could get used to bossy around people instead of being bossied instead. I wasn't afraid of responsability, hard work, long hours, everything I did I wanted to do it at its highest level. "That'd be all for today." I said quietly at my assistant, "I expect everything to be ready for tomorrow."
"It will be." He answered seriously, straighting himself up and throwing Lila a smile before walking out my office.
Once it was only Lila and me again, I felt her eyes on me. "What?" I asked in monotone, reading the mail I just got and not looking at her.
"Did you give him half day off?"
I moved my eyes from the screen to her face, finding an amused expression into her eyes. "No, I didn't." I answered as I smirked ar her, having no idea of why she was looking at me like that, but her good silly mood was being contageous anyway.
"But I heard that." She retorted, crossing her arms against my desk as she leant it.
I did too as our heads gravitated closer, my eyes boring into hers. "I took half day off instead."
My words surprised her and her brows furrowed before she smirked slowly again. "Oh really? So you did have plans for today..." She trailed off.
I lifted her chin with one finger, her pink lips looking as tempting as ever. I couldn't give in, not yet, it'd be the first step to a road with no end and I couldn't let that happen. "I did." I paused as we kept eye contact, "But nothing as good as any of your options."
"How come?" She asked in a small breathy voice, her pupils dilatated and making her eyes almost black. The effect my smallest touch had on her was obvious.
"Because." I shrugged as I pulled away, not admitting that the fact alone that she was there made my birthday better. Sure I was a grown up man and I was able to appreciate little things, like a run in the park and a huge steak for dinner, but that couldn't really compare to spend the night inside of her.
She squirmed in her seat as she let out a small frustrated groan. "You're not going to answer, right?" She asked and when I nodded, she sighed, "Okay, can we go now at least?"
I laughed, leaning back in my chair, "Not so fast Lil. I still need to show you something you have to work on."
"Okay." She pouted but composed herself anyway, her face changing once again, "I'm ready."
I glanced at her lips one last time, before starting, "We're trying to buy this company. They're in deep water and I'm not surprised since they've been taking wrong decisions for the last five years. But they're developing a new pack of programs and they're good." I paused, making sure she was listening, and she was. Good girl. "The thing is, they want to keep their logo with ours."
"But that's ridiculous." She cut me off, rolling her eyes, "Apple is all about their logo. It doesn't matter if it'd be just in the opening window of a program...it can never work."
I smiled at her, for the first time seeing a side of her I had never seen. I knew she was smart, but this kind of reaction was one of a practical woman. I liked that. "No doubts about that. I'm going to show you their logo and I need you to think about another solution."
She shrugged nonchalantly, "We could use their colors in the main theme of the programs."
"Damn that was fast." I smirked at her, genuinely surprised and impressed, "We make a good team eleven."
"We make a good couple too." She added softly, reaching for my hand from across the desk timidly and blushed too. It was the first time she called us that.
I lifted her hand and kissed her skin as I kept my eyes on her, feeling weird but pushing that feeling aside. "We can go now."
"Oh goody." Lila clapped and I shook my head, once again remembering that being so young meant that you got excited for nothing. "Can we stop at your room first so I can change?"
I rose a brow, taking in how she was dressed. Ugh. "What's wrong with that?" I smirked.
She rolled her eyes. "It doesn't scream birthday party." She replied simply.
"Can I change too?" I asked, amusement in my tone.
She bit her lip as I shrugged into my suit jacket. "But you look so yummy in a 3-piece suit...." She trailed off.
I laughed, not surprised but once again amused. She made me laugh, a lot. "Do I not look yummy in jeans?"
She shook her head. "No you do." She grinned wide. "I can't believe I got you to say yummy."
I laughed and my hand spanked her ass since I couldn't believe that either and her ass was too tempting not to. "Let's go."
She kept grinning and I held my hand at the small of her back as we made our way down the couple of blocks to my hotel room. I wondered where she had left her stuff, if she had booked another room, how long she'd stay. As I stopped thinking about that I noticed that she was being unusually quiet as we got closer to the hotel. "What's wrong?" I pulled her into my body as we got into the elevator.
"Nothing." She lied shamelessly, smiling sweetly at me. I'd never buy that, I knew her enough to see when she was holding back from me.
I rose a brow but still pulled her harder into me, kissing her, tangling my hands in her hair as my tongue slid into her mouth and taking as much of her as I could. Also, I wanted her to feel that with me there was no need to hold back, ever. "You're a liar." I grinned as we went into the hotel room and I stopped dead as I saw the painting propped up on the table. I set my key card down and walked up to it, not saying anything, just staring. I was speechless. Beyond speechless, I was thoughtless even. There was no doubt that Lila had painted that one, but the subject? It was my family, the way she had met them. I with little Poppy in my lap, playing with my hair, Jax and Robert having a war over the last piece of cake as my dad beamed at my mom who was kissing her daughter in law on the forehead as her son laughed. It was unbelievable.
"Happy birthday Travis."
I glanced at her a moment, opening my mouth then closing it again because I still didn't know what to say. She was the only human being in the whole world able to kick me off balance and she did that a lot. I got closer to the painting, studing the details, how relistic everything seemed. "Wow." Was the only thing I was able to say.
"Do you like it?" She asked from behind me, her voice small.
I turned to her, a wide smile curving my lips. "I love it." I breathed out as I cupped her face in my hands, not able to remember the last time I had such a great present. "Thank you Lil, it's the best present you could get me."
"You're welcome." She said back and blushed, the tension in her body and on her face gone, replaced by a smile instead.
"I'm also really happy that you came here." I added, the words seeming odd coming from my mouth but not any less true.
"Me too." She whispered softly, lifting on the tip of her toes and pressing a small kiss on my lips as she set her hands on my chest. "Where will you hang it?"
I pulled back to look at the painting once again, trying to imagine it somewhere in my house. "I don't know yet. You'll help me with that once I'll be back." I answered honestly, pressing another kiss on her lips, "Thank you baby." I repeated.
She bit down on her lip to conceal the wide smile on her face, kicking her heels off and walking to the phone of the room. "I'm glad you liked it." She said back nonchalantly but the tone of her voice gave her away, she was basically squealing. So adorable. I just smirked and shook my head, before shooting her a curious look when she picked the phone. "I'm asking to the consierge to bring my luggage here." She explained.
"Okay." I shrugged simply, assuming that she'd stay in my room, just like I wanted it. The only thing that I was slightly unconfortable with was how long she'd stay. I had my habits, I needed my space, the last time I had been in a relationship had been years before and now I wasn't used to share my life anymore. As I walked into the bedroom I got rid of my work clothes, setting them back in the wardrobe before grabbing a pair of jeans and a light blue shirt that would work no matter what we'd do later. I tossed the clothes on the bed before making my way to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
"As I said, yummy." Lila's voice broke into the silence of the room and when I turned my head she was checking me out shamelessly, lust into her green eyes.
I smirked wide at her, always liking the effect I had on her, "Want to join me?"
She shook her head and pouted, "I have to wait for my things."
"Next one." I winked at her before entering the shower, letting the water wash away all the tension and frustration of my day at work. I let my mind wander to other places, more specifially the place I'd be with Lila, real ones and not. I had to pick what to do from her neverending list of options and then I had to figure out what she expected from me and not from tonight only. I stopped the water and my thoughts too, getting out of the shower and wrapping a towel around my hips as I walked back to the bedroom where a half naked Lila was going through...dresses? I took in her body slowly, studying every curve and feeling my hands itch to touch every inch of her.
She noticed and smirked, "Don't give me that look Mr Cole."
"What look?" I played innocent as I got closer to her, sliding my hand down her arms and pressing her back against my chest. I swear, she was made of silk.
"You know." She giggled and escaped from my hold, making me groan, "If we start, we'd never go out. Speaking of which, did you decide what to do?"
I considered arguing about it, but, for once, she was right. We'd have plenty of time for sex later. "We can start with taking a walk." I answered eventually. I was very much a physical person, I needed to work out, run, fight, move, and those were things I was missing a lot in New York since I had no time for that. The thought of walking with Lila on my side and stopping on the way for a beer and a snack was a really good one. Then we could decide what we wanted to do next.
Lila looked a little surprised but then she smiled. "Perfect." She grabbed a skirt and a short top then she slipped into them and a pair of sandals before turning back to me and watching as my eyes slowly moved up and down her perfect body.
"Why didn't you paint yourself into the painting?" I asked softly while I got dressed myself.
She smirked as she ran a brush through her hair before walking up to me. "It was my view of your beautiful family Trav. In a way I did."
I smiled back and shook my head, thinking that it was a very good answer. "You knock me off my feet Lil." I said in a soft voice that came out a little forced even if I meant that. Only god knew how true that was.
She laughed. "It's only fair since you do the same." She answered simply, making the moment light as she opened the closet to hang up her clothes. "Damn it's a good thing I'm only here for 2 days, you've taken up the whole closet! Are you ready?"
"Only two days?" I asked instead, both upset and relieved about her short stay. On one hand I knew I couldn't focus on work as much as I needed to if she was there, but on the other I was slowly realizing that I was missing her.
"Yeah I have a magazine interview in San Fransisco." She said as she followed me back into the elevator. "Want to grope me until we get to the lobby?" She grinned wickedly and I laughed, hauling her towards me and pressing my lips against hers. She kissed me back, hard and slow, as my hands slid up her stomach and under her bra to rub against the underside of her breasts, making her moan into my mouth right before the doors opened.
I grinned. "You look beautiful by the way." I commented nonchalatly as I slid my hand to her lower back and walked her out of the building. It was the first time we went out as officially together and in a way it was empowering.
"Thanks." She smiled then licked her lips as the look on her face changed and I knew she was about to drop a bomb. "Did I freak you out? Calling us a couple?"
I shook my head slowly, since that wasn't the case, only it sounded a little odd. I needed some time to get used to that. "It's what we are." I replied, trying to sound convincing.
"I'm not very good at being a couple." She winced.
I looked down at her, because she had been the one pushing for that and if she wasn't sure about it herself? I could only see problem ahead of us. "What do you mean?" She sighed, making me fear for the worst. Apparently it was going to be an atomic bomb. "In every relationship I've ever been in it's like I have one foot out the door. I'm selfish and I flirt with everyone and I never put him first-"
"Lil you don't have to worry about being good enough for me." I replied, shaking my head, annoyed that she could even start with that bullshit.
"Oh I'm more than good enough for you. I'm just not good at being with someone...." She trailed off and once again I had the feeling she was holding back. This time though, I didn't push it because it was too scary. We were tiptoeing around a very dangerous zone and she had to be crazy to bring this up.
"You're doing well so far." I replied and grabbed her hand, willing to change the mood between us. We deserved to enjoy at least the good sides of being together, for fuck's sake.
She nodded and squeezed it. "Okay enough of me bitching. What do you want to do today?"
"You." I smirked, taking the easy sexy road.
"Oh I have a list of options for that too don't worry." She joked and I grinned wider.
"I'd love to see that list." I tugged her closer to me and kissed her softly.
"It's really long." She laughed.
I kept smirking, even though I felt like a moron but I couldn't help it. "That doesn't stop me from wanting to see it."
"You have to wait old man...I'll show you." She grinned back at me and scrunched up her nose, making the cutest face ever.
"It's my birthday, I shouldn't be waiting." I retorted with a sigh, breaking eye contact in favor of looking ahead of me as we kept walking and I tried to make up my mind about where to go. New York was a big city with neverending possibilities and sometimes it was hard to pick a place, in a way it was as if there were too many choices.
Lila squeezed my hand again as she took a deep breath, her lids closing a second before she looked up at me again. "God I love New York." She commented as if she was breathing the city in.
"It's not bad." I agreed simply, more focused on her face and all the expression crossing it. Her face could show you a whole universe and I found that very fascinating about her.
She nudged me softly and chuckled, biting down on her lip, "Are you kidding me? It's amazing!" She protested.
I shrugged again as I thought about the pros and cons of the city, while probably she let her heart do all the thinking instead. "Would you ever live here?" I asked, trying to get to know her more. We had been seeing each other for months now and I knew the basics about her, but it wasn't enough. I wanted to know more, I was curious.
"Why?" She asked hurriedly and her eyes widened a little, "Did something change and you have to move here?"
I laughed at her reaction, "No Lil, don't worry." I answered with a grin, though it wasn't an impossible scenario. "I'd miss home too much anyway." I added as an afterthought.
"Good." She commented and I could see the relieve on her face, then her eyes moved somewhere else and she lit up.
I followed her gaze to find a mini stand, just next to the Central Park entrance on the 5th Ave. It told gelato, and she looked like a kid who was tempted to run there and eat the whole thing. "Want one?" I asked as I shot her an amused grin.
"Yes please." Lila grinned and I shook my head. "What?"
"I'm still learning all the different types of Lila there are." I explained softly, only now realizing how kaleidoscopic she was.
She blinked, looking confused. "Different types of Lila?"
I cupped her face and nodded. "Yes this version is how I picture you were when you were a kid." I grinned and kissed her.
"Adults can like gelato too." She muttered under her breath as she walked with me, making me laugh harder as I got her a big bowl of 3 different flavors.
"It's a wonder you're in such good shape." I teased as I watched her moan as she ate slowly. Thank god it wasn't an ice cream cone.
"I have a good trainer." She winked at me.
I grinned, since I had no idea she did any sport in particular. "Do you have an actual trainer?"
She shook her head. "I used to for swimming, but that was ages ago. Do you?"
"Do I what?" I asked back, lost for a moment.
"Have a trainer? Don't you fight?"
I nodded, adding a thing to the list of what I missed. "I do." I answered quietly.
"So do you just beat up training bags with no rules?" She teased me and I laughed again.
"Sometimes. But I do have a martial arts trainer."
She nodded, looking intrigued. "You should teach me." She grinned.
I raised a brow, skepticism on my face. "You want to learn to fight?"
She gave me a look and stuffed some gelato into her mouth before she spoke. "I grew up with 5 brothers Trav, I already know how to fight, besides I took karate for 3 years in high school."
"You did?" I asked, really surprised. She was such a tiny girl and looked so fragile instead.
"Parker made me and Colbie, but I kind of liked it. Made me feel like a badass."
I laughed again as that picture formed in my mind. I couldn't really imagine as a badass. "I'd love to see that." I said eating my own gelato as we walked through the park.
"Plus any reason to get hot and sweaty with you." She winked at me.
"My girl has a dirty mind." I pointed out, liking that about her.
"You knew that before I was your girl."
"You're my girl because I knew that before." I grinned at her and she chuckled, "So...about that list..."
"Drop it." She looked up at me with a silly grin on her face as she finished her gelato.
"Can I know just one thing?" I tried, tossing the now empty bowl as I wrapped my arm around her waist.
She shot me a teasing smile as she nodded, "Shoot."
I let my hand run down her hip then cupped her a.ss, "Is this included?" I asked as my grin got wider and the thought alone made me want to drage her behind a tree and just take her.
She blushed, getting free of my hold. "Trav!" She blushed a dark shade of pink.
"Don't act all innocent with me." I reached for her again as I pulled her side against mine, my arm wrapping around her shoulders this time.
"I'm far from innocent." She retorted, but was still blushing.
"I know that, don't I?" I said as I looked down at her, "Is that a yes?"
"It's a maybe." She answered and made a point of not looking at me, which made me clueless about if I'd really have that chance or not.
I groaned, "I hate maybe." I pointed out but decided to give up, knowing she could be pretty stubborn. "I think we should go to one of those club later."
At that she stopped walking and glanced up at me, a surprised expression on her face, "Really?"
I nodded as I smirked, "Really." I said before my phone rang and I fished it from the pocket of my jeans, reading the text I got from Karlie.
"Who's writing? Your brother?" She asked with a smile though I could hear the hint of curiosity in her voice.
"No, all my family called me already. It's my ex." I answered, going for honesty but leaving it at that. The though alone made me cringe though, when it was about that woman I never knew what to expect.
"Uh." She muttered under her breath, looking as if she was holding back, again, but then went on. "Are you still friends?" She asked eventually.
"I guess." I shrugged, not wanting to get into that, not for my birthday. "How was your relationship with Riley? I mean, when you two were a couple..." I trailed off, this time it was my turn to dig into her past, mostly to know what her expectations were if she had any.
Lila shrugged. "When we started dating in high school it was exciting because I felt special, he was willing to suck it up with my brothers to be with me, and he liked me more than the cheerleaders throwing themselves at him....but it was more like friends with benefits than a relationship. I mean....ugh I'm not explaining it right."
"You loved him. But you weren't in love with him." I tried to find the words for her, since it seemed like that by how she was talking about it.
She looked up into my eyes and nodded. "Right. Exactly. He's my friend, and I liked being with him, but. I don't know there was always something missing."
"Do you still talk to him?" I asked though I already knew the answer.
She licked her lips. "Not as much as I used to." She admitted. "I think....I think he might have wanted more from me. I hope it hasn't ruined our friendship forever. Oh god here I go talking sad again." She sighed. "Why do you want to go to a club?" She smirked as she changed the subject suddenly, something I realy hated.
"Because I want to watch you dance."
"I'm a pretty good dancer."
"You're pretty good at most things Lil. Is there something you've tried that you're not good at?" I teased her since she was so damn cocky. Sometimes she was worse than I was.
She actually thought about that for a second. "I'd make a terrible actress....and I could never be a pilot."
I laughed. "That's for damn sure." I pulled her closer and kissed the top of her head.
"Hey!" She leaned into me. "What about you, what are you good at besides working, fighting, or being a sex god?"
"Isn't that enough?" I joked, forcing a straight face that didn't last more than a second before I broke into a grin. The effect she had on my mood was unbelievable and as time passed I realised that it was one of the things I liked about her the best. Then again, the beginning of a relationship was always the best part and I wasn't easy to handle.
She bit back a smirk, shrugging nonchalantly. "You tell me Mr. Cole."
"When you call me that I feel damn old. Like I'm my father." I pointed out.
She laughed, squeezing her body against mine as we kept walking without caring about the rest of the world. "Well you are kind of old. And there's nothing wrong with your father anyway..." She trailed off in a teasing tone, "Anyway, you didn't answer me."
"I don't know, really Lil." I thought about it and shrugged, "I don't do much beside that."
"Lies." She said seriously and shook her head, looking as if she was thinking to know me better than I knew myself, which of course was impossible but Lila was a cocky girl and assumed a lot of things. "You go out with your brother and you have your bike-"
"Are you saying I'm good at drinking and riding?" I cut her off with a grin and, for once, I was the one making her laugh. Again. It made weird things to me, her laugh, it was as if that sound made my chest bigger and made me breathe deeper.
"Kind of." She said eventually as she gave me a naughty look, "I guess I'll find out what else you're good at with time."
I sighed, this time being serious. "I feel like we're on the first date." I commented and meant it. I couldn't even remember how first dates were really, but all the questions, the curiosities, the things you found out about the other...damn I was in a relationship.
"Ooo....let's hope not. I don't put out on first dates." Lila grinned.
I laughed, knowing it'd never be the case. It was already a miracle itself that we had been able to go out. "We'll see about that."
"So what happened to the guy who used to be doing my job?" She asked, switching to work, a subject that made me feel comfortable. But Lila too.
I groaned and shook my head, since the guy was a total disaster and had no idea of what telent meant. "Got the flu? Something not worth skipping out on work."
"He probably knew deep down that he sucked."
I smirked. "Too bad you don't work for apple exclusively anymore." I pointed out though my opinion on her choice was a good one, as long as it worked for her.
She shrugged. "I dont know I like freelancing. Airplanes aside." She shuddered. "You'd think that having a brother who owns an airline would make me used to it...but it doesn't."
"I forgot you owned Trenton airlines." I commented quietly, not giving many fucks about that. They could own the whole universe and I'd still be not impressed.
She made a face. "Parker does. I have nothing to do with it. Except the logo."
I rose my brow, connecting the dots. "You did that logo?"
She nodded. "It was the first graphic I was ever paid for. Way too much money but that's Parker for you."
"I learn something new about you every few minutes." I grinned.
"Hey since we have hours before it'll be cool enough to stop at a club why don't we take advantage of happy hour?" she suggested with a grin.
I nodded, liking the idea but liking even more that she was doing all the thinking for me. She gave me options, I approved or picked what I liked the best...it was ideal. "A drunk Lila....I think I could handle it."
She stopped and ran her hands up my stomach slowly, the look into her eyes getting more heated. "Do you remember when you got drunk and stopped by my place?"
I shot me her annoyed face, since that hadn't been my best night. "The time where you locked yourself in the bathroom so you could touch yourself instead of be with me?"
She winced. "I forgot that part...."
I tilted my head to the side. "Well it's good to know I'm more memorable than your hand."
She laughed. "Oh much! Come on there's a little restaurant around the corner with great specials and appetizers."
"How come do you know all these places in New York?" I asked, really curious about that.
"I did my homeworks." She admitted and blushed a little, as if it was costing her, but then again her honesty and lack of filters was what I really appreciated about her and made her so different from the other girls.
I grinned as I pulled her closer to me to kiss her quickly, "You're so f.ucking cute." I said and she rolled her eyes, though she was still smiling. "I thought that I was the one who got control issues."
"I like to be prepared." She shrugged nonchalantly as we headed to the restaurant.
My grin got wider, thinking about the nights and days ahead of us, all the things we could do, and for the first time I wasn't terrified of letting her in. "I hope you're prepared for me too."
