dance dance like it's the last last night of your life

Lila
“Seriously guys, we have PG-13 fun happening in like an hour if you want to change we have to go now.” I told Jax and my sister as they played touch football with Will and my brothers. Surprisingly Jax seemed to charm them all, except maybe Reese but even he was wearing down pretty fast. Not that it was that much of a surprise, Jax was an easy guy to like. A part of me wished Travis was the same way but he didn’t even want to come today. To be fair, he had to work but I was pretty sure he scheduled the meeting on purpose in order not to come today.

“So soon?” My mother smiled and put her arm around me before leaning in to kiss my head. “I see my babies all together so rarely.” I laughed.
“We’ve been here all day mom.” She smiled as she watched Jax help Colbie score a touchdown on Josh’s team and then lift her into the air and spin her around like a cheesy romantic comedy.
“I’m so happy for her.” My mother was always a happy person, but the joy in her eyes as she watched her oldest daughter was 10 times the norm.
“You don’t think they’re moving too fast?” I asked, knowing that even Colbie was worried about that. My mother shrugged.
“It might get a little messy before it gets good, but that’s how most relationships are. I’m just happy she found him.” She said him as if it was the one, as if my mother could see something that no one else could. “Just like I’m happy you found Travis.” She added.
“You haven’t even met Travis.” I sighed and she laughed.
“Your father didn’t meet your grandparents until a week before we got married.” She admitted. “Your Travis sounds so much like him. It makes sense. Since you’re so much like me.” I smiled at my mother.
“Some girls don’t like that idea but I take it as a compliment.” I said seriously. Mom beamed and kissed me again.
Colbie
“I’m serious! We have to go!!!” Lila called from the patio and I turned to her.
“What’s wrong with what we’re wearing now?” Jax asked, pushing his hair back as he tossed Parker the football with the ease of a pro.
“Um, you’re covered in dirt. No club will let you in wearing that.”
“No club will let me in anyways, I’m so obviously a soccer mom.” Liz’s voice came as she walked into the backyard with Adam.
“Not from where I’m standing.” Kolton shot her a wicked grin and Adam narrowed his eyes on my brother.
“I don’t know who you are but I don’t like the way you’re looking at my wife.” He said seriously.
“I’m sure you don’t like the way most guys look at her.” Kolton responded with a shrug as Liz turned bright red and Adam practically growled. Oh look there was the family resemblance to Travis.
“Rob! My uncles are going to take us to the laser tag place!!!” Will said, running up to his friend.
“I don’t know what I’m wearing either.” I admitted, watching the boys run off.
“Please. I have enough dresses to clothe an army. Now come on, I haven’t seen my boyfriend in like 4 days and he doesn’t like waiting for me.”
“Have fun.” Adam kissed his wife sweetly before Jax pulled me into his arms. He didn’t kiss me and I knew it was because he was trying to be good around my family but god I wanted that kiss. Instead he leaned in to my ear.
“Wear something I’ll be thinking about taking off all night.” I shivered in his arms and blushed furiously
“Deal.”
Lila
“Are you sure this dress isn’t too short?” Liz asked, tugging at the hemline of a black dress I had picked out for her.
“It would be if you didn’t have the legs of a goddess.” I replied combing my fingers through my hair and watching as Colbie tried to straighten out her boobs in the green dress she’d picked out for her birthday last week  “Stop that you’re making us both jealous.” I pouted at her.
“Yeah seriously.” Liz agreed. “Even when I was nursing mine weren’t that big.”
“Ugh. No mommy talk tonight! I can’t relate.”
“Sorry.” Liz laughed.
“Holy shi.t” Adam’s voice perked her up and she went red from head to toe. I was guessing my boyfriends sister in law didn’t have much opportunity to dress it all up and the look on her husbands face said it all.
“Cleans up pretty nice huh?” I winked at her before finally seeing my man skulking behind his brothers. “Hey baby.” I slid my hands up his chest and felt him relax slightly.
“Why do we have to be here again?” He asked pointedly.
“You can leave if you want.” I shrugged. He shook his head, knowing I wouldn’t love if he left.
"And let you here alone? Nope."
"It's my sisters birthday I wouldn't be alone." I retorted and raised one eyebrow slowly, he ignored my words as he turned to my sister.
"Happy birthday Colbie." He said, reaching over to kiss her cheek and making me melt at how cute my man was. Not that I could tell him that.
"Thank you." She muttered, blushing a little too while Jax beamed down at her.
"So what did you get her for her birthday?" Adam interjected, looking younger than I think I’d ever seen him.
"Travis sent me flowers." Colbie said back, making Jax start laughing and me widen my eyes.
"I think he meant Jax." Travis smirked at Colbie who just turned redder.
"Oh." She bit down on her lip, "I got it wrong!"
"Did you really do that?" I asked, pretty surprised if I was being honest. I don’t think he’d ever even gotten me flowers, then again I thought they were a waste so maybe he just knew me. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me against him.
"I'm a gentleman and I had to make up for missing the first part of the party." he said, using the Cole charm that still worked on me.
"Sure, a real gentleman." She teased me. "He never gets me flowers." I pointed out, faking a pout.
"I still want to know what you got her." Adam said to Jax stubbornly.

Colbie

"I can't tell you, she doesn't know yet." Jax shrugged and I leaned against him, pouting until he kissed me. God I loved when he kissed me,
"I have to wait until later."
"I know what it is." Lila pointed out with a mischievous look ok her face, this was the problem with your boyfriend being so close to your sister.
"I do too." Liz interjected and winked at Jax, which surprised me though I guess it shouldn’t, it was smart of Jax to consult the women in his life, but now I was even more curious.
"How come I'm the only one who knows nothing?" I heard Adam ask, looking to Travis for back up, but he looked almost bored, though gorgeously so as usual.
"I don't know either!" I laughed, feeling so free I didn’t know what to do with myself. "We should get drinks until everyone forgets about it."
"We're going." Jax offered as he squeezed my hand and then let go to point to the only empty table in the back. I grinned and Lila hooked her arm in mine as she smirked at the guys in the bar.
“Is it a good present?”
“I’m willing to bet Jax is getting lucky tonight.” My sister winked at me and I laughed.
“I’m pretty sure that was happening anyways.” I admitted.
“True story.” Lila nodded, grinning as she looked over at the boys, her eyes glossing over as she settled her eyes on Travis. My baby sister was such a goner. “We all get lucky tonight!” I grinned.
“Oh god it’s been so long since I got really lucky.” Liz admitted, sighing.
“Seriously? How exactly do you keep your hands off of Adam he’s gorgeous.” I laughed and Lila nodded emphatically.
“I don’t.” She laughed. “And quickies are amazing but god I miss when we’d spend days in bed together only stopping for food.” Lila laughed.
“Sucks when the real world gets in the way of your sex life huh?” She teased.
“Don’t you talk, you don’t have kids. Or a 9-5 job.” I pointed at my sister.
“You’re the boss of your job! Don’t you dare tell me you haven’t had Jax on your office desk.” She rolled her eyes and I blushed hard at the memories.
“Oh shut up both of you. My kids are my boss. See what that does for your sex life.” She pouted and Lila leaned in to side hug her.
“Lucky tonight that hunky husband of yours is only going to focus on you.”
“Damn right.” She grinned. God it had been so long since I’d been out with girlfriends like this. I’d always had Lila to live vicariously thought but it was so much better when I felt like I was a part of it too.

Lila

"I'm getting spoiled tonight!" Colbie literally squealed, even clapped her hands together as she beamed at Jax when the boys came back. I wondered if my sister had drank while we were getting dressed or if she was just drunk on him.

"Take notes." Liz teased Adam instead.
"Trav." I turned to my man and wrapped my arm around his waist feeling how tense he was. "What's wrong?" I whispered. Trav reached out and cradled my head in his big hands.
"I'm afraid my brother lost his fucking mind." He breathed out honestly. I read the real concern on his face and bit on my lip.
“I hate champagne, come get a real drink with me.” I shouted for the tables benefit, pulling Trav away from the group and over to the empty side of the bar, ignoring the way a group of girls were looking at my boyfriend.
“What do you mean?” I asked, paying full attention to Travis. He shrugged.
“He got her a weekend away? I can’t remember the last time Jax bought anything more than a drink for a woman.” I nodded.
“I was pretty surprised too, but you have to admit it’s a damn good present.” I grinned and he just gave me a skeptical look.
“With Will though? Is that even okay with Colbie?” I shrugged.
“That’s up to her not us.” Travis shook his head.
“Your sister must be damn good in bed.” I bust out laughing as I set my hand on his chest.
“I’m sure she is but that’s probably not all there is. I’m sure your brothers thought the same thing about me.” He shrugged.
“You’re different.” He said simply, his hand tracing my jaw slowly.
“Maybe that’s how Jax feels about Colbie.” He nodded.
“I hope the feelings are mutual.”
“Do you think Colbie is screwing around with your brother?” I asked pointedly, settting my hands on my hips.
“I don’t think she’d do it on purpose, but you have to admit he’s a rebound for her.” I nodded.
“I thought the same thing. But Trav, I’ve never seen her this way before.” Travis sighed.
“You look hot as fu.ck.” he said seriously after a few moments of silence. I laughed again and leaned up to kiss him.
“So do you.” He grinned wider and set his hands on my as.s to pull me closer.
“I always do.” I rolled my eyes but didn’t argue with him because…well it was true.
“Want to sneak in the back room and fool around?” He shook his head.
“No I’m going to tease you all night until we get home.” He shot me a heated stare and I felt it from my head to my toes. “Give her a martini.” He said to the bartender once he got his attention. I smiled to myself, loving how Travis was still himself even if he was all mine now too.
“Mean.” I said under my breath even though I was still grinning as I grabbed my drink and headed back to the table.
Colbie
“Oh for fu.cks sake.” Trav came back and shook his head as he turned to see his brother and sister in law making out at the other side of the table.
“They don’t get out much.” Jax laughed. “It’s like I’m in high school all over again.”
“Did you share a room?” I laughed, imagining all the shenanigans they could have gotten into.
“Dear god no.” He laughed. “I would have gotten way more of an eyeful than this if we’d shared a room.”
“Yeah like Rob’s conception.” Travis’ voice was in a monotone as he sipped his drink.
“Lies.” Adam pulled away from his wife to interrupt. “That wasn’t until college.” Liz laughed slid into Adam’s lap.
“This is so fun!” She smiled.
“Yeah making out is tons of fun.” I agreed, smirking at Jax. He pulled me closer and kissed me hard.
“Let’s go dance pretty girl.” He offered, pulling me out of the table to the floor and wrapping his arms tightly around me. “That dress is going to look amazing on the floor at my place.” He teased.
“Does that line really work?” I teased him, sliding my hands around his neck tightly.
“You tell me.” He rose a brow and swayed against me, his body moving as effortlessly as it always did. I swear the man was good at everything.
“I think the odds of you getting lucky are pretty good so far…..but I haven’t gotten my present yet.” Jax smirked, his hands gripping my waist tighter so he could pull me against him.
"I'm already as nervous about it as it is." He confessed, and damn if I didn’t think that was adorable. I wrapped my arms around his neck and gave him a look.
"Should I worry?" I teased.
"No, I just really hope you like it." he shrugged, spinning me in his arms and pressing my back against his chest so he could kiss against my neck while we swayed together.
"Mhm." I moaned softly, arching into him so I could get more of that mouth. "Are you trying to distract me or seduce me?"
"Both." I felt his grin on my skin and I sighed, enjoying everything about the moment.

Lila
I watched as my sister and my friend danced, both so completely in tune with each others movements. They were so far gone and I didn’t’ even think they realized how much themselves. Jax and Adam were both good dancers. Travis probably would fall on his as.s because he never tried.

"What?" I heard his voice ask, apparently reading my thoughts as he tugged me between his legs.
"I want to dance." I said back just as bluntly, still looking at my friends on the dance floor.
"Go dance then." He retorted back just as he spanked me harder than usual.
"But I want to dance with you." I pointed out, staring at him seriously. He shot me an amused look.
"You know it's never going to happen." he said slowly.
"But look at your brothers! Damn, why the dancing gene had to skip you?!" I retorted, not really upset because I’m sure he could dance instead. He took a long sip of his drink before he set it down and then lifted my chin.
"I can dance. But only in horizontal position." I blinked back at him and then chuckled.
"Oh god Trav." I shook my head and finally grinned, "You're silly."
"I think the word you were looking for was sexy." He retorted and I kept back the words in my head like how half the time we didn’t’ do it horizontally at all. "And I know."
"New York made you even cockier." I smirked before pressing my lips softly against his, "I didn't even know it was possible."
"I'm a man of many surprises." Trav nibbled at my bottom lip before pulling back and wrapping his arms around me tighter so I could lean against him.  "Thank you for tidying up my bedroom by the way. I can't way to make it messy again.”
“I didn’t tidy up your bedroom.” I said giving him a weird look.
“My bed was made.” He pointed out.
“That’s not tidying up that’s making the bed.” I laughed.
“Still.” He shrugged and I shook my head.
“I’m going to find a gay guy to grind up against.” I replied, moving away from my boyfriend before he pulled me back in my arms
“Or….” He leaned in and kissed me, sliding his hand up my skirt and bending me back against the booth. I moaned, my hands moving to his hair as I kissed him back just as hard. I felt when his hands grabbed the side of my thong and he pulled it down my legs.
“Trav!!” I tried to inch down my short skirt as he grinned at me.
“No one is looking at us silly girl. And if they are they’re just jealous.” He slipped my panties into his pocket. “I’m going to need these to tie you with later.” I groaned.
“Can we leave now?” I asked, desperate for more alone time with him. He shrugged.
“This is your night out.”
“No it’s Colbie’s instead.” I groaned and looked over at my sister. She looked so young and happy and carefree. I hadn’t seen her like this since I was a kid and she snuck me out of bed to watch movies we weren’t allowed to see.
“She looks okay.” Travis nodded over towards her and Jax who honestly were basically dry humping. Maybe Trav had a point.
“We can leave after presents. COLBIE!” My sister looked up and I motioned her towards us.
Colbie
“What’s up?” I asked my baby sister as I wiped my forehead. She looked a little flushed herself even though she hadn’t even been dancing.
“Presents!” She smiled up at me. Adam and Liz came up behind us, wrapped around each other and so clearly in love it made me ache. It reminded me of my parents when I was little.
“Time for cake?” Adam asked, grinning his smile that even made me a little weak.
“No cake. I can barely fit into this dress as it is.” Liz shook her head.
“You’re smaller than I am and you’ve had two children. Shut your mouth.” Lila shot back, treating her like she always treated people that she considered family.
“I thought you said no kid talk tonight.” Liz shot back just as quickly. How did I get so lucky to be a part of this? Not only to have my family, but at least for tonight to be a part of Jax’s too.
“Here.” Liz pulled an envelope out of her bag and handed it to me. I blushed and leaned in to kiss her cheek before opening it.
“You didn’t have to get anything for me really.”
“Please. Liz is just hoping you’ll use that with her so she can have an excuse to leave the house again.” Adam got hit by his wife as I read the gift certificate to my favorite restaurant.
“Thank you!” I hugged her again. “I’ll definitely be using this with you.” I said seriously. Lila pulled out a larger envelope to hand to me.
“I bought you that outfit, but this is a little something extra.” She grinned. “Not the real thing of course, just a picture.” I opened it to see a picture of a painting, clearly that my sister had done. It was from an old picture I kept on my mantle of me reading a book to Lila when she was barely big enough to talk.
“Oh Lila.” I said, tears forming in my eyes as I set my hand against the picture.
“I had Reece hang it up in your place while we were out.” She smiled at me.
“It’s gorgeous. Thank you so much.”
“Damn it Lil.” Jax shook his head. ‘How the hell am I supposed to compete with that?” Lil gave my boyfriend an innocent shrug.
“Dunno.”
“Were you really that chubby as a kid?” He teased, pointing to her little baby arms as she shot him a look and Travis started cracking up.
“You’re the worst.” She said seriously, sticking out her tongue.” Jax poked Lila’s nose and laughed.
"That still doesn't make you the best." He pointed out making my sister shoot him a fake glare.

"The hell I am not." She said, leaning back against her man.
"Since when do you talk like Travis?" Adam asked with amusement in his tone.
"Since I'm a great role model." Travis answered making Lila laugh as Liz turned to me.
Please don't end up like her. We all know how strong the pull of a Cole men is, but you can resist." She managed to say before breaking into a grin.
"You were so good at resisting that you even married me. Well done." Adam told her with a smirk on his own face as he pulled her against him.
"I'm not that bad!" Lila protested.
"You're a lost cause." Jax teased her while Travis played with her hair absentmindedly. I leaned back against Jax and he wrapped his arm around me.
"She's young, I'm old enough to be safe from the Cole's charm." Adam and Liz laughed, while Lila pouted,
"Not you too!!!" She protested while Jax held tighter to my hip and leaned into whisper in my ear.
"Lies."

Lila

"I think it's time for babies to go home." Trav announced, wrapping his arm around my shoulder and taking advantage of everyone's good mood to go away easily I looked up at him and smiled, so ready to be alone with him.
"Already?" Colbie pouted, looking genuinely disappointed with that and looking at Lila. "We didn't even dance together."
"Travis had a long day and-"
"Travis doesn't dance anyway." Jax pointed out. Travis kissed my sister.
"Go dance, I'll wait for you a little longer." he said eventually. I gave a little excited yelp because I did want to dance a little before grabbing Colbie and Liz and pulling us to the dance floor.
“Why doesn’t Travis dance?” Colbie asked.
“He’s afraid he won’t be able to resist me and make a scene on the dancefloor.”
“Holy sh.it all three of them together are a sight to see.” Colbie laughed as she looked over at our boys who were laughing as they drank, their smiles so indicative of their family relation.
“I know right?” Liz agreed. “Sometimes I wonder how I really ended with him.”
“Was it love at first sight?” My sister teased. Liz laughed and shook her head.
“Not exactly.” She chuckled. “But I knew pretty quickly I’d never love anyone as much as I love him.” I felt my heart ache as I watched her look over at her husband before twirling my sister. Was that what this felt like? Real true, never going to be better love? I glanced at Travis who seemed to feel my eyes on him and gave me a smile and a look that burned through me.
“What about you and Jax? Are things hot and heavy?” Liz teased. Colbie fanned herself.
“I honestly didn’t know things could be so good.” She admitted. “He’s….he’s amazing.”
“He is.” I agreed, smiling as I did my best to keep my skirt down.
“Sounds like someone’s falling for my brother in law.” Liz grinned at Colbie and her eyes widened.
“It’s too soon to tell.” She shrugged.
“How are three ladies as gorgeous as you dancing alone?” the leader of what looked like a group of frat boys asked as he walked up to us.
“By choice.” Colbie laughed. One of them tried to put his arms around me as he spoke.
“No girl chooses that.” I swirled out of his arms and shot him a look.
“We do. We’re all taken. Sorry.”
“Oh come on baby, he’s not here, what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.” I rolled my eyes.
“Oh good god, does that really work?”
“No. And you’re wrong. He is here.” My man’s voice scared all three of the guys who were currently pawing at Liz and Colbie and I noticed now that all three Coles were on the floor and I hadn’t even realized they’d stood up.
Colbie
“You guys are quick.” I laughed, my buzz feeling strong as Jax glared at the red haired kid who’d been staring down my dress.
“Leave.” Adam said seriously.
“We were just having a little fun.” The leader said, holding his hands up in defense.
“Yeah next time have fun with someone in your league.” Lil winked at the kid and then turned to Travis. “I could have kicked all their asses.”
“Maybe. But not in that dress.” He gave her a look that meant more to her than it did to me because she blushed a deep red. My god we were all goners.
“You’re hot when you’re all possessive.” Liz said, running her hands up Adam’s chest.
“What do you say we get out of here? Get some dessert.” Jax winked at me.
“Sure, there’s a hotel with a great restaurant across the street…..maybe we could get a room.” Liz grinned up at her husband.
“You’re a smart man.” She laughed.
“I’m drunk.” I admitted before turning to Jax. “And I still have no present from you….wait is your present orgasms?” I said without thinking, making Lila and Liz crack up.
“Stop that you’re my sister!!!”
“You’re all drunk.” Travis said shaking his head.
"I'm not that drunk." Lila, of course, retorted, poking my brothers chest with her bony finger and looking at him with an hilariously serious expression on her cute face.

"Yes you are and I'm taking you home." Travis smirked before wrapping an arm around her and throwing her over his shoulder.

"TRAV!!" I protested but a second later she was giggling in her silly drunken state with all of us.

"Say bye." Travis grinned, turning around so she could look at us.

"Bye guys, it was fun!!! We have to do it again!" She started, "It's Travis' birthday soon-"

"Don't even think about it." He grinned as he spun on his heels again, "Night!" he said to us before heading out.

Colbie

“Trav was serious about that."

"They're cute together." I said as I leaned into Jax.

"Don't say that to Trav or he'll flip." Liz rolled her eyes, though she was still smirking as she looked up at Adam, "I think we don't need to go in a hotel room, we have the house all for ourselves." She added seriously.

"I know that already." Adam pointed out and shot her an amused look.

"You should make more babies, Poppy is so adorable!" I said seriously thinking about her cute little eyes and cheeks and little baby girl voice.

"We'll be working hard on that tonight." Liz replied seriously before breaking into a giggle with me as we walked outside.

"It's time to go home." Adam said mischievously, enveloping his wife into his arms.

"I agree." Jax grinned and we all said bye before parting ways.

"I had so much fun Jax." I said once we got in the car. “Thank you." He turned to me at a red light, leaning into kiss me softly.

“You have no reason to thank me baby."

“You’re the best boyfriend I’ve ever had instead.” I admitted, a little slurred from all the champagne. Jax laughed and shook his head.
“I’m afraid I’m not competing with very many men but thank you.”
“Are we going to your place?” He nodded.
“Will and Rob are staying with Parker right?” I nodded. “And Poppy is with my mother, probably being spoiled rotten.” I sighed.
“Yeah well she’d be hard not to spoil.”
“That’s true.” Jax admitted, pulling up into his driveway and turning to me. “Do you want your present now?” I nodded frantically, jumping up in my seat.
“Yes please.” He chuckled and pulled out a small box from the glove compartment. I smiled as I pulled off the ribbons and opened it.
“You got me a picture of a beach house?” I asked, looking down at the cute bungalow. Jax laughed.
“No baby, It’s a weekend away. I rented the house.” I widened my eyes.
“Really?” Jax nodded.
“Is it okay?”
“Of course…I love the beach. What about Will?”
“He would come with us. The house has 3 bedrooms.” He winked at me and I felt myself grinning wider.
“Are you serious!?” Jax nodded again.
“Any time away with you is amazing Colbie and I think it would be a good way to get to know Will.” I undid my seatbelt and climbed into his lap, tangling my hands in his hair and kissing him hard and fast.
“Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you.” I said against his lips over and over as he chuckled against mine and slid his hands to my as.s.
“Happy Birthday.”
“I was hoping for one more present.” I said, smirking as I ground myself down into his lap.
“Oh really?” I nodded.
“You didn’t know that sexual favors were on my birthday list?” I asked, tilting my head to the side and batting my lashes with false innocence.
“Hopefully from me only.” He narrowed his eyes and I laughed.
“Yup….I’m still waiting.” I smirked and he pulled me closer.
“Let’s go inside and I’ll give you everything you ever wanted.” He said darkly as he kissed up my neck.
“Perfect…..”
